    Zoom Mod v1

    Name: Zoom Mod
    Version: 1.0

    Description:
Zoom Mod is a mutator which allows easier control of the zoom-level of Sniper Rifles, via the mouse wheel/next & prev weapon keys.

    Compatibility:
UT2004, developed with v3369. Zoom Mod does not replace any weapons, so should be compatible with many custom Sniper weapons.

    Comments:
Zoom Mod overrides the behaviour of the mouse wheel/next & prev weapon keys only while zoom is active. Also, zooming with alt-fire is exactly as it was before.

Credits: Programmed by porkmanii, motivated by Rabid-wolf's request.

Homepage: Nope, but there's a readme.

    Download: here.

    Mirrors:

If you want, it can stay for a very long time at zoommod.youtea.de
Just a non-binding offer. You don't have to pay anything. It's my private UT blog site I am paying for on my own.

Out of curiosity... how does this mutator manage to support custom sniper rifles?

            Thanks, B1tchkilla! Thanks, Lord_Buggy!

I'm moving house soon, and something tells me I won't be sticking with my current ISP...

Interaction. It doesn't replace any weapons. When you press a key, it (from ZoomInteraction.KeyEvent()):
            • determines if you are zoomed in (DesiredFOV != DefaultFOV)
            • adjusts an internal variable- DesiredZoomLevel (actual zoom is done in ZoomInteraction.Tick(), for a smooth effect)
            • returns true (overriding the usual behaviour of the key)

That does have one negative side-effect: weapons with a different type of zoom mightn't behave as expected. For example, you can temporarily adjust the zoom level of the AVRiL while locked on. Also, it imposes limits based on the limits set in PlayerController, which may be different from limits set in custom weapons.

A full zoom-customization mod would fix this, in that you'd specifically tell it which weapons to override, min/max zoom level, etc. There are a few problems with that, though:
            • It would require configuration for each weapon you want to use (probably including custom varieties of stock weapons.)
            • It would take a while to develop.
            • To prevent exploits*, the configuration in use would have to be sent from the server to all clients.

            * e.g. client configures Shock Rifle to have zoom...

I also posted this thank you in the requests thread. Will try it out as soon as I get home.

                  p.s. thanks for mentioning me.

Great mod, however, when new members log into the server, the config box pops up. Is there anyway to stop this happening, I'm happy with the default settings and would like all users to use the same, thus making the customise box at start up not needed?

Outstanding, sent it to our clan leader, 20 mins later, it's on the server. Already my response time on the target has decreased. Faster response = more kills.
                      Thanks a million

New users can change this option to prevent the config box from coming up a second time.
                        Setup On Login
Automatically open the configuration menu on login if Zoom Mod is not installed. This defaults to Enabled, only applies to users that have not installed it (i.e. they’ve downloaded it while connecting to a server), and is not a server-side setting.
I'll think about adding a server-side option for it. I'm waiting for my broadband to be connected (I just moved house), so it might take a while.

Thanks for the quick response, great mod regardless.

Hope your connection gets sorted nice and quick too!
