    CTF-1on1-Hourglass

    Name: CTF-1on1-Hourglass
    Version: 1.0
    Compatibility: UT2004

    Description:
"This tiny Capture The Flag arena perched precariously on a mountaintop is the ideal location for a bit of pointless mayhem."

A very small 2 player CTF map - the design is similar to CTF-1on1-Joust as you spawn at the opposite end to your own flag. Instead of a straight corridor (like Joust) there are several different routes leading through a narrower point at the middle, hence the name "Hourglass".

I realise this gameplay style isn't to everyone's taste, it's meant to be a bit of fun. Don't knock it 'til you've tried it

Gona be hash here. Your such a good mapper and the designers that have gone into this map show it. However you say maps like this has game-play I say they don’t. Your map looks amazing the layout is the complete opposite.

No game play no layout makes for a bad map, looks come second for me.

Have you tried the map? Screenshot don't say anything about the gameplay.

I tested this map with normal weapons and on instagib for hours and hours, and at i'm not the type of person who likes 1-on-1 CTF maps like joust, but just like joust, it grew on me and it is fun and challenging, and to actually get a capture does take some thinking.

The point is, don't judge a map by its cover. (unless it has l33t in the title , in which case just head for the hills and don't look back!)

Still doesn't say anything about the gameplay...

But I played a short match and I loved it to death, it is anything but easy to get a flag capture.

Actually it does, if I can see what’s there I can imagine playing it. Its not that hard to do really any normal brain can do the same task.

Well, you have a very good brain if you can create a match in your mind the same way as a computer does.

I don’t need to. Its called connecting the dots if you like. I already know how the game plays played many hundreds of different style maps in my time. I know what kind of futures a map has to have to make me tick. So all I need to do is look at the map see if any thing takes my fancy and as this map is almost capture in one shot its not that hard to do.

If the map had a layout and was multiple rooms you would have a case.

It ain't the size that matters, it's the quality of the current size. You can put a whole lot of gameplay in one room if you have a good feel for how to make a map fun. At least that's my opinion, but I loved the map so it is a keeper for me.

I bet that’s your justification every time.
