    Fast Lgi Ctf Maps - Kdctf

    Hi. It's been a while since I've touched UT2K3 but I thought it might be worth while to release these to the public. Basically I played a little UT2K3 with my roommate when it first came out and we hated most of the maps that were being played so I made this collection for us to play 1v1 LGI CTF. If you like small hallway style fast flying CTF action then you'll probably like these as much as we did.

    Because these weren't originally intended to be released, there are no bot paths or weapon pickups and they were made specifically for LGI.

    My first mapping attempt. Consider this my "tutorial" map. As sloppy as it looks, it's actually one of the funner ones to play. This is also the only map that includes weapon pickups.

    In case you were wondering, there is no ctf4. I borked it up too badly to want to fix it.

    This map turned out to be a lot huger than I had intended. But it's really just a huge hallway with some lava at each base.

    Hum... all things I'd normally criticise seem to promise pretty interesting playability. The maps are pretty empty and show low detail in lighting, architecture and textures. But somehow it gives more importance to the game itself... to practice and to satisfy my curiosity you could make 2nd-versions with more detail.

      you know i'm glad you said that. these were made for playability and that's all. We had a need for simple 1v1 maps and so I met that need. I was basing all these maps on the fact that my roommate and I loved to play hallway CTF maps and also that I wanted to be able to take advantage of all the new wall jumps and stuff in UT2K3. So it was meant to be open and when you spawn, you spawn right into the action. You never have to go searching for anybody because they will always be in your face.

      any custom textures were made in mspaint. Personally, I prefer a BSP map over a static mesh map. It doesn't look as pretty but plays better IMO. Easier to wall jump off of just about every surface. Meshes were the last thing to add only as decoration.

      But like I said before, I haven't touched UT2K3 for a very long time so I doubt I will mess with the maps unless I'm somehow inspired.

      But again Teddy, thank you very much for the comments. It really means a lot to a first time mapper. Fun>Looks is the only rule in my book.

        Those maps are ****!... Its all about the playability.. not the graphics.. Some people dont even have graphics in competition. So i wouldnt listen to whinny *****es like above. I would love to try these maps out.. they look like fun competition ones.


        The faster the map loads/runs the better man..

          Thanks for the comments blade. My thoughts exactly. Fast frames, fast play, and as few movement limitations as possible = goodness.

          I guess posting this is enough for me to play with the editor again. I'm moving things around, adding more decoration and adding weapon pickups to make these suitable for a default CTF server. Because of this, most of the maps will be Low grav by default. When making the maps, I spaced platforms based on how far I could jump in a Low grav setting so it would only make sense to carry that over to a default game. I'm also taking into consideration that some servers don't include the Xloc so some platforms that were supposed to only be accessible by Xloc may be lowered to be accessible by some kind of walljump. we'll see.

          I'll post some screens of my progress. Thank you again for your comments, Kr33p.

            Only 10 posts in here ever???

            OK, I would like to simply say..{TDC} would love to join your ladder here for 135..but the map list is pretty bad guys. No Twin Tombs,Bollwerk,DeepSprintA.....Will the map list be updated anytime soon? Romra is a mess with 10 people and so is Barn.
