    DM-MF-RockyGarden beta test

    Name: DM-MF-RockyGarden

    Version: beta1

    Compatibility: ut2k4 dm, tdm

    Description: ...

    Comments:
I made it at first for the mod rocketeer as an arena, and IMO it is ok for normal deathmatch so I ported it to ut2k4 with some small changes
it is an antalus style map, full of rocks, jump between platforms and z-axis fighting are the most gameplay of the map
    right now it's beta1
i'm waiting for your feedback:P about anything

I am very very sorry, I just forgot to include a sound package, so you can't load my map in ut2k4
now i know why you guys didn't give me any feedbacks
I'm uploading new version, just a few minutes

Yup, next time make sure you attach ALL relevant files with your map. :sour:

MoonFX whatever that is is missing.

          [15 minutes later]

Ok, opened your map in the editor and located a "rock" static mesh with default texturing. I deleted that and it worked!

          Criticism.

Some "rock" static meshes had stretched texturing and out of place jagged edges. I say that as 99% of the rocks were smooth faced. ('tis the middle of the night and I am now too fagged to take screenies )

          Praise.

Bots worked it well with no apparent hang ups (only 5 minutes play)

          Nice use of custom meshes.

I personally liked the ambient sounds, was waiting for a werewolf to attack me half the time.

If you sort out those small problems you will have a winner here. The sort of map that would suit a small band of friends over a LAN/online

It wasn't a sound package missing but a texture, fixed as per my post above.

those meshes with default texturing are only used as collision meshes, you can't see them in game
              thanks:P

it is the sound missing that makes the problem, while if you open my map in the editor and save it then you will found the map can be loaded in game, this is because the usage of the missing package has been removed

I find outdoor maps take a little more playing to get the grasp of properly, I've had a few goes but still don't feel 100% comfortable with the map yet.

I like the lighting and the general ambience, the build for an outdoor map under DM is pretty good and clever in places. Only real gripes I have are the jump pad emitters (if I'm using the right word), the arrows look out of place in the setting a bit and would probably suit something less obvious (something wisp like could be good). The other point is areas like behind the RL which look like you can walk through but can't, perhaps work out another way that still makes the map look open (falling boulder or something, squashes the player if they try and exit)?

Nice job MF, I'm not a big fan of outdoor DM maps but I like what you've done even so. The build works quite cleverly.

i will consider making a new particle for the jump pad
also make those areas look more unaccessible

Thanks!!! Still lots of work need to do for the map
