I hope it will be succesful. It might even change me from going from Igib CTF to Excessive CTF .... hope there'll be enough, or just some server running it. I was amazed by this, never played it on other games before .... **** fun. Blobgun all the way!!!
I always use that explosive death or whatever hte mutator is called, so it's always 'boom' when I frag 'em (bots I mean). Are you supposed to be doing what you describe? Haven't done it before.

Yeah, just take off that mutator and just play normally. When you frag a bot and they lay there, just fire some rockets just underneath their bodies and you'll see them fly up. Keep peggin' them till you can keep them up in the air. Its awesome. I always play this with a karma physics mutator. Its really amazing. I have it set to when you blast em' they fly back several feet spinning like crazy with high body bounce.
Ah, must be the reason why I came accross a few of my body part along the way? Didn't see that happen before. Oki, I'll try it out, even though I love that other mutator lot. Once we get our European server started, I'll try and have this added too along with ZoomGibPro. So far, these three are my favorites. Must yet look into that radar mutator.
Originally posted by MadNad Death, I was aware of this new command for linux as well, but I have not tested it, if it works, let people know how you did it. You can always just use the zip file for installation on Linux as well.
Code:
cd /where/you/installed/ut2003
./ucc umodunpack -x /tmp/some.ut2mod -nohomedir
MAKE SURE TO USE THE FULL PATH TO THE UT2MOD FILE in the ./UCC CALL!!
Sorry, just wanted to make that clear, as a relative path confuses the poor thing... It's touchy as hell, but if you follow the above example, (and have write permission to the ut2003 directory ) it should work... It did for me at least... Enjoy!
and you admins out there, don't forget to add the ServerPackages line to your ini's!!
(big thanks to Mirco "MacSlow" Mueller on the ut2003@icculus.org mailing list for spelling out the various pitfalls and the right commands to use to avoid them)
Also, I wanted to mention a fix in the excessive.txt that has been made. There was a type-o mentioning how to get a server running. I previously stated that you needed to add the line ServerActor=Excessive under the [Engine.GameEngine] section of you ut2003.ini. I meant to say add the line ServerPackages=Excessive.
Sorry for any troubles I caused.
If for some reason you lost the ExcessiveConfig.ini or you deleted it, then open UT2003 and open the Excessive mutator configuration window and when you click "ok" an new ExcessiveConfig.ini will be written to your ut2003/system folder. The dedicated server downloads may wish to back this file up since they do not have this option.
Cheers to you for a great mod, MadNad! I got a chance to play a round of ExcessiveDM yesterday, and all I've got to say is: I need a new computer!!!
Seriously, uber-fun to play, well dedicated sequel to the orig, and it even kills my framerate just like the orig did when I first played it on my previous system... ****, they're gonna be shipping me off to debtor's prison if I keep buying high-performance systems like this...
Excessive can be very laboring on your system. These are the recommend settings for a comparable system of a P3-933, TI-4200, 512MB RAM
Texture Detail=Normal
World Detail=Normal
Character Detail=Normal
Physics Detail=Normal
Character Shadows=Off
Dynamic Lighting=off
Detail Textures=off
Decal Stay=off
Use Blob Shadows=off
By this weekend I hope to have a UTX league 2k3 Excessive Overkill ilan server set up in Boston. I will drop off the ip here when it gets tweaked. GJ MAD!
You can check here to see if there is an EO server near you! http://www.excessiveut.com/
WoW........I just wanna say great mod I really love the pace.
I was playing late last night and doing well until MaDNaD and plumb_Drumb came in,Dam u guy's are good. I am a noob in UT-2003 I have only been playing since last week...I am a former Q3 excessive player and what a difference....But I did pick up a few pointer's from u ghy's ...........Thanx
Well im pinging 180 and game play was still smooth,im sure there will be more servers coming online soon. But still in Q3 a 180 ping would lag you so bad you could hardly play.I am running a 2.53 gig processor with a Radeon 9700 would you suggest to use your video settings as described in earlier post, or can I go with full eye candy...............
