Images say more than thousand words:

Want to change the look of UT2004's GUI?
    NOW YOU CAN!

While this is still an early alpha, it works
Change the images to ones you like better, re-arange the items of the mainmenu.

It's your game, it's you GUI!

And you do all of this without loosing the ability to connect to any public server (also tested with UTSecure)

    Have fun!
    Meow :noob:

Any chance of a tutorial ?
What would be needed for a total n00b to modify the GUI with your custom-GUI-mod-thingy ?

      It's pretty easy.
It's just importing the images you want into UEd and re-saving the texture package.

      From the readme:
      Code:
      (2) Changing the GUI
      --------------------
      * 2.1 - Changing the images
      ***************************

If you know UEd it's pretty **** easy.

Fire up UEd and open the "Cat2K4Menus.utx" texture package from the UT2004\Textures folder.

At the moment the changing of the following images is supported:
      (I'll list them as "groupname.texturename")

MainMenu.2k4Logo - The UT2004 logo diplayed on the top of the mainmenu
MainMenu.action1 - First image to be cycled usually on the left bottom corner
MainMenu.action2 - Second image to be cycled usually on the left bottom corner
MainMenu.action3 - Third image to be cycled usually on the left bottom corner
MainMenu.highlight - "Underlay" of selected mainmenuitem
MainMenu.char01 - First "portrait" choosen randomly, usually at the right side
MainMenu.char02 - Second "portrait" choosen randomly, usually at the right side
MainMenu.char03 - Third "portrait" choosen randomly, usually at the right side
MainMenu.mmbgnd - The background image of the mainmenu
      MainMenu.ScrollHuge - The biggest scroller
      MainMenu.ScrollBig - The medium scroller
      MainMenu.ScrollSmall - The small scroller
BkRenders.Bgndtile - Backgroundtile of all other GUI pages (serverbrowser, e.t.c.)
BkRenders.Char01 - Image to put on top of the above tile
BkRenders.Scanlines - The scanlines put over the result of the two above things

      * 2.2 - Changing positioning of main-menu items
      ***********************************************

Now this is the really easy part.
Open "XInterfCat.INI" in your UT2004\System folder and just edit the values
like you want to have them.

The positions are scaled from "0" to "1" where "0" is farmost left/top and
      "1" is the farmost right/bottom :-)

That server menu background is NICE.

Kinda neutral, without the irritating business of the original one

Just what I want when inspecting and selecting servers.

Apart from the nice main screen, I fail to see the improvements - the server browser looks the same... :weird:

No scanlines (or anyones you like) and any image in the background you like.

              That's it. Plain and simple.

                  Oh, OK.

I thought this was a complete GUI replacement for all menus - maybe to make it look like the old UT menus.

It's a bit tricky to edit this stuff without some kind of visual feedback, but at least it's possible to 'fix' and personalise a few things.

The exit UT2004 link on main page takes you to the single player area. Nice GUI though cat!
