    First Map Screenshots

Here are some screenies of my first map in progress. Feel free to post any comments or suggestions from what you can see on the screens. I still need to figure out how to get the bots to get on the elevator as I can't place a path node on a mover, any help on this? Well here are the screens, the map should be done within a couple of days

    Mover Botpathing

Looking good for a first map, IMO.

Here is a good place to read about teaching bots to use lifts. If you have any other map-making questions, I suggest you ask in the Level Editing, Modeling, and Skinning forum. Good luck in your mapping!

      Looks ok so far

You dont need a pathnode on a mover

bots will use the lift exit and lift centre actor.

Looks good for your 1st map.

Heres some help, i'm not flaming just offering my hand in help and my knowledge

1st shot = lighting needs to be re-done. In fact it looks like you haven't build the lighting in that shot at all. Where you have that lava texture put some red lighting. And put some kinda trim round it to make it look better.

        2nd shot= doesn't look that adventureous

        3rd shot = lighting again

        4th shot= trim

if you need any help please feel free to e-mail me dudelovehavemercy@hotmail.com

yeah, you need lightsources, and more texture variety as well as statics, cuz your map looks empty... otherwise looking good, especially for a first map. good luck and hope this helps !

I did what you said Yournan
. I added the red light over the lava pit and the light reflects on to the roof. I also added the triming, I think it looks much better now  . I also re-did the lighting around the corridors by making the lamp lights into spot light, thus giving it a darker light. I'll keep working on this for a couple more days before releasing it. I don't know if I should add more rooms

Excellent. Just with the correct lighting and trim a map can look a whole lot better.

1st shot = trim is looking cool, nice job:up: . Red light could dow ith darkening and then reducing the radius.
Time for detail.............to do this place nice statics on the walls as there looking very boring & flat, your ceiling was like that before but now you've aded the trim its looking a **** lot better:up: . Also take out some tiles in the floor, it again will add detail.

2nd shot = Ceiling is looking flat. You need to do something like you have in the first shot. Maybe make a cut in, trim it and have a skybox or some pipes or something. Walls need detail

By looking at this map, its a arena map is that right?

you have my e-mail, if you need any help you know where to get me.

A little tip for you which helped me a lot. Check out retail maps which look like the map your trying to make, in your case check out DM-Insidous, it looks very much like yours. See what the retail map has in it and make notes, it will help you a lot.

Remeber if you need any help i'm just a couple of clicks away.......
