    GunGame2 - Closed Beta Release

    Hello dear UT04 players,
    this thread
    brought me to the idea of creating a GunGame system similar to CSS and COD for UT2004.


    Description:
    So every player starts with a default-weapon (ShieldGun) and another one; you acuire new weapons by increasing your "GunLevel". To increase your "GunLevel" you simply have to kill enemies; teamkills and suicides will decrease your "GunLevel" by one point. You can only have two weapons at the same time (the default-weapon and another on depending on your "GunLevel"). ShieldGun kills decrease the victim's "GunLevel" by two points, but won't increase the killer's "GunLevel".

    This modpack includes two brand new gametypes:
    - GunGame
    Every player is on his own. The player wins the match who reaches the last "GunLevel", or has the greatest "GunLevel" when the time is over.

    - Team GunGame
    All members of a team spawn nearly to each other, to offer more teamplay. If a player has reached the last "GunLevel", or has the greatest "GunLevel" when the time is over, so his team wins this match.

    It isn't a "closed" beta then, or am I wrong about that?

          free-for-all gungame works good, but team version crashes the game every time somebody dies
          also i tried to change weapons using the worm2k4 but it doesn't work
          and when you'll fix team gungame could you add an option to let the gun levels of every team member summarize to the teamscore?

            @Barionyx, it is closed beta, because it is a stable version. But it is not final, because I still work on it and want to integrate some things; maybe some smart feedback.

            @Turbo K, this release does not have configurable weapons, because this is a bit tricky. Maybe future releases will have a configurable list.

            That is strange, it worked quite well, but I made a new version today, gonna test it on other machines. But maybe you have activated some mutators, remove them all.
            It is not possible to change the weaponry, because I had to make new subclasses of each weapon. So do not try to modify it, because this could cause serious problems.
            Hmm....What's the sense of an overall Team-GunLevel?

            Edit: It works really well, I tested it, but deactivate BloodyHell, or other mutators. It is not compatible with any mutators changing the pawnclass or the playerreplicationinfo.

              A configurable list would be nice.

              The team version needs a scoreboard so that you can see who is winning.

                @Turbo K, I adjusted the default scoreboards for GG/TGG, so both have a scoreboard (F1) and a new HUD showing the GunLevel, only the menue (Esc) does not show the GunLevel, because I don't know how to manage that.
                If I integrate a list, it will only contain the UT2004 default weaponry, because the code is not compatible to other weapon-sets (e.g. Ballistic Weapons), but maybe I will find a solution there one day. So test this version, give some feeback and there will be further releases.

                Btw. maybe someone can make better scoreboards for GG/TGG, because the adjusted defaults are not very pretty.

                    Does this work for stock gametypes such as DM and CTF? Sounds really cool. I might try it out if it works for the stock gametypes.

                      @FewPost, yeah these are two new gametypes such as DM/TDM, you don't need anything but the file to play. They are also fully online compatible.

                        There's an issue in Team GunGame where the incorrect team is announced the winner. If a player cycles through all the weapons but his team has less frags or points than the other team, his team will not win. The game will stop, and show that player in the end game pic, but announce that the other team won. This has been confirmed to happen in Instant Action and online in a server. Please fix it so the team that wins is the one where one of its players first cycles through all the weapons. This is what is originally intended as per the ReadMe file, but as of now is not the case.

                          I did not mention that while testing, but I will fix that problem, when I have time. But that will take its time, because I also have to integrate some tricky checks to offer a configurable weaponlist in the end.

                          Anyway, thanks for that clue and your interests.
                          This is the best for motivation.

                            This sounds like the Mutator I've made several months ago named MutEquipmentLevel but I never got to release it. You've beaten me to it :P

                              Hey, folks!
                              It has been a (very) long time, but ultimately I have found many motivation to go ahead with that project.
                              It is already quite mighty and it's going to be final. Eventually, it will be amazing because I integrated LOADS of new ideas and improvements, but I don't want to reveal to much now.

                              Unfortunately I need some help in creating a HUD and ScoreBoard.
                              I do not feel like digging into this topic, because I do not like it very much and it would need extra time to prepare skills.
                              So, if there is someone helpful out there leave a message or PM me.
