[UT2004] Transport Vehicles for custom Onslaught & Assault maps!

    Hey LegionaireJoe,

    I wanted to let you know that I looked over your model designs and I have found them amazing! But thats not the reason I'm here...

    The main reason I'm here is because I am making a model of my own entitled "OPERATION: Crimson Reign". I don't wanna post any pictures of my designs yet because they are not complete and are still being made into a 3D model. But I was wondering if you would be interrested in helping me with this project.

    The main vehicle I am working on now is a small 1 person aerial fighter... whose specialty is the Ion Painter. If everything works out the way it should, this small plane will be able to take off, hover in the air and target an enemy node with the Ion Painter with a longer range (than the normal Ion Painter gun).

    Other vehicles I am working on is a faster version of the Raptor (1 person), a small 3 person fighter (driver and 2 gunners), a heavier "Bomber" (1 pilot, 1 bomber, and 1 gunner on the back).

    Please keep in mind that I am only making the models since I have yet to learn the scripting. So, If you or anyone would like to help me with these models, please feel free to PM me or instant message me on AIM (screen name is VCRLSpazz.

      Is it rigged? I mean is it? You all want to use it and everything but what if it was the other way around and 2 of these were on your side of the map against you. You say alot of people but 4 people and a gunner isn't much and if the pilot wants to throw away such a vehicle then well no comment on that heh. If it can carry any vehicle then it must be bigger then it personally it should have a limit such as a Scorpion Or Goliath or Manta but not a Leviathan. What about the pad or center you do need a place for this gigantic or small vehicle to spawn at.

      Finally: FOR THE LOVE OF GOD USE A WAYPOINT OR DESTINATION SYSTEM OR THIS DROPSHIP IS GONNA FLY BLIND.

      The Reason I Do This < Is Because Some Peopel Don't Take The Time To Read My Comments Since Their Usually Quite Big. I either give them the strain of reading it or the pleasure

        Thiedon: I'm quite busy with a lot of projects already, but I'd be glad to give any comments and critiques, and any insightful information that I can to help.

        Get a better pilot.

        Also, this is UT2004, not Planetside, or Halo, or anything else. It's not as 'tactical' per-se, but more focused on faster paced, intense combat, and the reason for the smaller amount of players the Stormcrow can carry is because I'm fairly certain that most pilots wouldn't be patient enough to wait for 12 people to load up, if you'd even be in a game with 12 people coordinated enough to get together to load up and fly out to the landing/drop zone. Plus, that amount of players is quite a bit, and having an entire team in one vehicle would be "putting all your eggs in one basket" and if the transport was to get blown out of the sky, you'd be sorta screwed.

        Yes, I never intentioned it to be able to carry a Leviathan, or anything larger than a Goliath. That was the plan all along, I just never felt the urgency to clarify that limit. Now you know.

        That's up to the mapper, not me.

        [sarcasm]Have you played the demo for an awesome game called UT2004? In one of the new game modes which features vehicles, they have a minimap that shows you the map, and your current location! You also have the ability to switch to a 3rd-person camera view so piloting/driving the vehicles is more intuitive! It's awesome![/sarcasm]

        No need for waypoints. Team chat (text) as well as VOIP can take care of coordinating drops to certain landing zones.

          Ok if you have two dropships on your side of the base and their the enemys you said get a better team u mean you would leave the game and go to a dif one just because of that. That's STUPID and only newbs do that. You need to give it weaknesses. No my its not a cruel way to treat people they earned it by the way it used to be.

          You don't understand YOU need to make a center for this thing to spawn if you rely on the mapper to do it then your mod wont be used YOU need to make a center that it spawns at that coems with the mod so the mapper can choose where but not have to make it.

            Don't put words in my mouth that I didn't say! I never said to leave the game and go to another one, you just said that. Plus, the placement of the dropship(s) is up to the mapper, and if during a game, whatever nodes that allow you to acquire the dropships is under control of the other team, well I think it's quite a fair statement to say that you need a better team that works together so you can regain control of the nodes.

            The dropship isn't ingame and you're making assumptions on how it's going to work, and that your view of how the vehicle is going to be like is what it will indefinately be, forever and ever, set-in-stone, never to be changed. Well, I'm sorry to burst your pathetic little bubble, but UT2004 isn't out yet, and the final statistics for the vehicle will be done once we're able to get it coded ingame and working, and through rigorous testing so it is fair, balanced, and useful.

            Also, I've already thought of plenty of ways to make it 'weak' per-se. I've already explained that it doesn't have a massive amount of armaments. It's not a gunship, it's a transport vehicle. Its also planned to not be very fast, making it even more vulnerable to AVRiL rockets, turret fire, and also traditional weaponry than the other aerial vehicle, the Raptor, which is fairly fast and has a hard time dodging incoming fire itself.

            Have you ever mapped before? I have no control over how a mapper designs their map, the visual style they use, or what circumstance they will have the map set in, or the reason why they want to put these transport vehicles in.

            Let me try and make it very clear for you.

            This is not, and has never been, a mod. It is just two vehicles.

            And why I'm making these vehicles; to give mappers an opportunity to have available to them transport vehicles that they can use in their maps. The other people involved and I are giving up our time, by our choice, to give freely to other people these vehicles so that they won't have to make them, and spend the time doing so.

            I hope that was easy enough for you to understand.

            I must say, though, I do get a good laugh out of your posts; it's actually quite easy shooting holes in your pointless, baseless arguments. Now go along and play with your 'Fallen Shadow Vengence Lord' friends... I'm sure they enjoy listening to your mindless drivel.

                    Hellrose: I'm currenly involved in multiple ongoing projects. Why you ask?

                    !Wicked DUDE!: I'm sure there would be occasions where you would need to fly solo to an area to pick people up in order to bring them to another location. Creating a minimum player loadout looks like a good idea on paper, but it would limit gameplay options.

                      that might make it worthless at the same time, no? well all see when testing is being done I guess.

                        Precisely And remember, the Raptor has 300 hitpoints, and an AVRiL rocket does 200 damage, last time I checked. The projected hitpoint amount for the dropship is 1600, so it's got a lil meat on its bones, and whatever the final amount is will be sure to be balanced with its maneuverability and speed.

                          edit: had and idea, any way to code it that you need at least 2 people in the vehicle before take off? just a thought to reduce the solo whores lol.

                            I just might be able to help you with future plans for mabe texturing, just mabe! Im not sure yet though cause im not that skilled at making like textures from scratch but, in general I could edit and clean up textures and whatnot if you shall want help.

                              What about 1on1's?

                              But yeah it is easily possible to add a required amount of ppl in it before the engine starts rolling.

                              Maybe even change the secondary fire of the pilot to start/stop engines.

                                I just thaught it might be cool if you lowered the dropships armoutr and damage for the gun turret but increased it's fire rate so it could act as an antimissile defense.
