    Personal Growth

    Personal Growth
    Beta 0.2

Scale players and game objects to suit your tastes. Make big maps look small, or make small maps look big.

This mutator will scale players, weapons, sounds, projectiles... you name it. In addition to player scale, you can choose to scale any combination of movement speeds, visual effects and distance fog.

The idea for this mutator was born out of annoyance with the UT2003 level design scale. I like my enemies near and my objectives in easy walking distance, so I made a mutator that could enlarge pretty much everything but the map itself. However, the mutator can also do the opposite; make you so small that any map seems enormous.

Going from left to right: 0.3 scale (super tiny), 0.5 scale (tiny), 1.0 scale (still looks small to me), 2.0 scale (looks just about right to me) and 3.0 scale (huge!).

    Installation & use
Place the PersonalGrowth.u and PersonalGrowth.ucl files in your UT2004\System folder, start the game and use the mutator.

Scales under 0.5 or over 1.5 may yield unpredictable results such as not fitting in small spaces, not being able to reach the powerups (their height is hardcoded) or falling through the level. Experiment. The game did not allow vehicle karma collision to be resized.

    Credits
Idea and code by me, with help and suggestions from meowcat, Hsoolien, Farseer, Angel_Mapper and Switch`.

    Requires UT2004 + ECE.

Fixed! I also posted some screenshots in the first post. Note how Diode still looks small compared to the archway in the 1.0 scale screenshot. Such is the scale of all UT2004 maps.

Sorry, didn't edit the url properly. It works now. Both the download and mutator have been tested and confirmed.

Does this for for Invasion monsters as well?

It would be cool if individual maps can get individual settings.

btw, this is probably the single most interesting concept I've ever seen in any mutator!

Interesting idea... The mut works fairly well on some maps, and poorly on others. For example, 3.0 scale on DM-FST-Sacrifice only caused some minor bot loitering and corpse deformation (afaik), while 1.5 on DM-Blackhawk caused me to spawn inside a closed structure (had to ghost out), and later crashed the game by proxy (Ballistic Weapons). But fun nonetheless...

I tried it, and it works.

There might be small glitches such as gasbags not spewing flames from exactly the right spot, but other than that, yes, it should work for Invasion monsters. From a code perspective, monsters are a subspecies of players. Everything that works for players should work for monsters.

Each map is different. Nothing I can do about that. You can only go so far on certain maps, further on others.

Which, in addition to previous components, gives us a whole galvanic cell

Haha, Xyx was probably working on the LED too much and sees diodes everywhere (which is a kind of paradox, 'cos the name has nothing to do with diodes actually. He doesn't have to know that, though:P).

Anyway, finally got a chance to play with the mutator. And it's lovely. Really cool thing indeed. It makes even more apparent how the various maps differ in terms of scale, though.
