UT Forward Beta3- A new breed of Unreal

    [b]Name: UT Forward
    Version: Beta3
    Compatibility: UT2004 with latest patch
Credits: Aaron 'Lotus' Everitt and Joel 'dnx3' Moffatt, content provided by Anthony 'Ono' Pilger for UTComp
    Type: Mutator
    Download: http://web.ics.purdue.edu/~aeveritt/...wardvbeta3.zip

Forward is a simple gameplay reinterpratation of ut2k4, with a simple goal of creating a fun and exciting gameplay experience. The game reinterprets movement and weapons, but also introduces some general gameplay tweaks. While forward is playable in any of the stock UT2004 gametypes, it has been balanced mostly with duel play and clan arena in mind. Go in with an open mind and enjoy yourself!

    What it does:

    Movement:
    • The movement can be best described as bunnyhopping with an unreal twist. There are 2 major additions to the standard ut2k4 arsenal of movement -- Midair Dodging and Bunnyhopping.
    • Midair Dodging is simply the ability to pull off any of the moves normally available at any point.
    • Bunnyhopping, is the ability to maintain speed gained by jumping quickly upon hitting the ground. While bunnyhopping, one can take advantage of the terrain, getting height boosts off angled terrain and reorienting their path while sliding on the ground.
    • These movement techniques can be used together in order to acheive even faster speeds than either of them alone.

    Weapons:
    • The standard ut2k4 weapons have been altered to increase the speed and intensity of fights, and give fights a new airborne element.
    • Most weapons have been given increased knockback or increased damage output.
    • The shieldgun has been reworked so that its defensive use is 'earned' by offensive play.

    Gameplay:
    • All the pickup times have been decreased to complement the increased speed of movement and the amp is replaced with a mini-keg in duel games.
    • Players spawn with all weapons, but with limited ammo which can be replenished by weapon pickups.
    • To maintain the element of surprise, most audio cues during movement have been removed.
    • Players are rewarded for attempting difficult midair shots. If someone is popped into the air by weapon fire, projectiles are given a damage bonus.

We have found that due to the different gameplay dynamics, some maps which were unusable in regular UT2004 duel play are quite enjoyable when playing forward! We most enjoyed Grendel-keep, Campgrounds, Corrugation and Ironic. Antalus, Rankin, Goliath, and goose are also recommended.

We've had a blast playing around, and hope you will too. We welcome any sort of feedback you're willing to give.

Note: UTComp version 1.6a is included inside of the file in this beta version, and the forward gameplay modifications can be voted off via the settings page. The mutator you should use is utcompv17beta3.mututcomp

I just tested this, and its so **** fun and funny, hmm, if UT2007 is like this on the weapons side only, it will be fun.

Ok, beta 3 is up for download at http://web.ics.purdue.edu/~aeveritt/...wardvbeta3.zip

This version is a little different, in that I've split off the utcomp files and the forward files...and both are slightly updated. To load the mutator, just load UTComp as normal by adding ?mutator=utcompv17beta3.mututcomp to your commandline, or selecting it via the ingame menus/webadmin.

              UTComp Changes:
---All settings from this version on will save across all future versions.
---Fixed a movement bug introduced in utcomp 1.6
---Added the ability to disable specific adrenaline combos(config only for now, in the UTCompSettings.UTcomp_Settings section of your config)

              Forward Changes:
---Made small tweaks to weapon properties.
---Made small tweaks to movement properties, including slightly increased slide-time and a few changes which should make going uphill a tad easier.
---Fixed bugs related to server/clientside settings staying after shutting the mutator off
