I vaguely recall someone trying to model a Seige Tank and put it as a usable vehicle... then getting nailed by Blizzard.

Actually, as I recall, the people that were working on the StarCraft mod struck a deal with Blizzard in which they were allowed to proceed as long as they didn't actually use the StarCraft name in the title of their mod... or something like that. The mod did eventually fizzle out, but my impression was that it was not because of legal issues.

If anyone has any actual facts on the subject, please do chime in.
