DM-1on1-Backspace [SE - Server Fix test version]

    Name: DM-1on1-Backspace.

    Version: Final Candidate.
Compatibility: UT2004, latest patch. Would prefer if it was played with UTComp too though.

Description: There is no place for winners here, only champions. Steady your aim and clear your mind, this is one fight you won't want to back out of.

    Comments:
First of all I would like to mention that the map was designed to be played in competitive UTComp 1v1 matches, and has been tested online by the guys at Unrealnorth over the past few weeks.
There aren't many meshes placed around the map, mainly because I wanted to keep a high framerate throughout and generally keep the map looking clean and simple. Same goes for the use of sound in the map. I kept the amount and volume of the sounds quite low, so they don't distract you from what's happening around you.
If everything is cool with the map, no bugs, no major weapon/pu placement issues, etc, then I will release the map as it is on Sunday night.

    HF!

        woohoo another slainchild map!

I played this when it was untextured and thought it was awesome, so with textures makes it that much better. Looking forward to the final.

/Looking at the keyboard in frustration, Slainchild finally decides upon the map name

          Downloading...interesting textures, btw.

---okay, only had time to make 2 gripes (rushing to go out)...

1.) This dodge ramp is just slightly too vertical compared to the others.

2.) I don't like the dead end next to the supershield.

            Thanks.

1)That ramp is angled so that you are launched through the gap, and not into the ceiling, luckily.

            2) There are no dead ends at the supershield. There are 2 normal corridors, and 2 shieldjump exits.

Edit: I .rar'ed up the alpha2 version and a serverside demo of e^zech vs xTp!sosi playing a match, if anyone is interested in how it plays out online. http://www.slainchild.dsl.pipex.com/...eAlphaDemo.rar

              Very nice map

I thoroghly tested it, but beside what was mentioned already I think it is most likely fine.

Looking excellent Slain, the one thing I can gripe about that it may look a bit the same throughout the map, maybe even a wee bit too much. If possible, clearer landmarking/difference between areas, only needs a little bit. Otherwise excellent. I will try and find something you could change myself and you'll probably see me around

Changes I have made so far:

-Removed amp and put the Linkgun in it's place. This should make the area less redundant in a 1v1 played without the amp.
                        -Tweaked botpaths a bit.
-Fixed two texture misalignments near the lift.
-Fixed a lighting issue on the top floor.
-The metal flooring now makes the "walking on metal" sound.
-Lowered the brightness of some lights.

                        Keep 'em coming.

Yes the map is all the same, try and make a few places look different.

Yeah I thought about it, but it seems fine to me... If you take the time to learn the layout it's really not hard to know where you are. Anyone actually have any ideas, instead of just saying that some areas need to look different?
