    Compatibility: UT2004
    Description: A race of giants once lived on this planet. Since their mysterious disappearance several years ago, the Liandri Corporation has added one of their many relics to the Tournament.
    Comments: Added bot pathing, replaced (ugly) green/white checkerboard with woodgrain, added powercore cave enclosures, as well as node/vehicle pads, added playerstarts to nodes, dimmed sky-lighting, added light fixtures around nodes, added animated level preview and updated radar map, smoothed excessively bumpy terrain areas... etcetera.

    Credits: Based the shiny chess-piece shader off something I found in DM-IceTomb; everything else created by me.

    Clever idea, but you should probably make the border wall a different color/texture.

          That sky colour will make it tricky to see air vehicles, while they will have no difficulty whatsoever seeing ground vehicles.

              In my opinion, you should make it like this:

              Usual things like roads, plains of grass and stuff. The chess theme is still there, trees have black and white leaves, roads would be giant black/white squares. Decoration could be chess pawns and chess related stuff.

              In short: Kinda like the UCMP map ONS-ABC theme, just with chess.

                I'm planning to leave raptors out.. it's a small map, the standard ground vehicles and the manta should be sufficient.

                In short: Kinda like the UCMP map ONS-ABC theme, just with chess.
                I may actually be working in that direction regardless.. the map actually started out as a flat, fully populated chessboard, until I decided to go with terrain with chess-piece decorations. It's still very much in its first stages.

                    This map is not much to look at. The layout is simple and boring, detail is nonexistent and the lighting/textures is Unadorned and Painful to look at.

                      At least make it red and white... red is much cooler than green. It would be nice if you added some detail to the chessboard texture too, like make it look like wood or dirt or something with the chessboard painted on, so it isn't so blank looking.

                        Okay.. that's good to know. Any suggestions as to what I might do to ease the unadorned painfulness of it all? :weird:

                          I think combatting the emptiness will be a bit of a problem, seeing as (I think) the only stuff that isn't terrain you'll be using will be chess pieces.
                          Perhaps you could create some walls with toppled pawns, and in a somewhat more advanced direction, turn some of the pieces into accessible buildings? Just off the top of my head of course.

                            I did actually consider that in the original version of the map; doors and staircases, though, would make the meshes even more complex than they already are (currently about 600 triangles each, IIRC). I might be able to do something with teleporters, I suppose...
