How many of you are pursuing a career in Video Games?

I'm studying Computer Science and engineering in College, and hopefully someday I'll work for Nintendo

Just wanna know how many of you people out there want a career in Video games, or thought about it. If so, which part you gonna work with(see poll)? I wanna work with the Progamming/Graphics Design. I got the idea for the poll when I was watching G4TV and they was talking about the different jobs in the game industry.

Since I play so much-- might as well get paid to play, n'waddamsayin':bulb:

I have already taken the first step to being a game tester, but I don't know if I want to do something like this fulltime for the rest of my life.

Yeah, they was talking bout Testers on G4TV, and how they have to write up a report on all the bugs they find in the game, before they release the final product. And that can get annoying, especially if you have to do a boring game like those Shrek game, lol.

I ain't. It's fun as a hobby, but I'll never let it get beyond that. Can't imagine myself ending up crying over bagels on the floor of the epic office.

Im in my third year doing a computer science degree....still want to make games, and have only started doing 2d/3d games etc this year, the amount of other stuff that is needed throughout the degree becomes tiresome after a while, although i do see its value...but it seems too buisness orientated rather than game orientated. ( i would prefer the latter)

                <-- Already there, dude.

You forgot a few though. In addition to "Graphic Design", you should have three other ones. "Designer", who is mainly responsible for the gameplay and the overall experience, "Level Designer", kind of an offshoot of Designer, who focuses on the gameplay of the levels, and "Level/World Artist", which is what I do, taking the levels that the Level Designer makes and purty-ing them up. The best way to get into doing what I do is just pick up the editor and get cracking, schooling isn't really a necessary part of it.

Like Angel Mapper, I recently got hired. Its at a Vancouver games company as a Level designer. starting in about a week.

show that hard work pays off. now if I could only hear the contest results my life would be complete.

Studying animation and character design here atm, but I'm not sure where I'll go from that. Not many companies here in norway other than Funcom (Anarchy Online, Longest Journey). I might get together with some friends and try to start something but its doubtful.

I am. But I had to choose Other since Professional Gamer was not a choice.

My Future boss will be The Cyber Athlete Professional League.
