Also, my PC occasionally makes a very load buzzing noise and then stops after about a minute. Sometimes I can hear a tap-tap-tap-tap sound that goes on for about 3 minutes.

dx is just software afterall .....
rebuild your pc hardware bit by bit and see what's making it buzz.

it's either a fan...hard drive...or cd-rom dying on you...I'm gonna guess fan...also possibly a wire is hitting a fan...Comment

If you're hearing taps, it's probably a CPU/videocard/case fan dying, or hitting a wire, or something of that nature. If you're hearing something more like clicks, watch out for a failing HDD.Comment

You don't want to uninstall DirectX 9. If you think it's causing you problems, you're mistaken. Maybe your OS needs reinstalling.
The tap-tap-tap noise could very well be the sound of a dying hard drive.Comment

ive had hard drives tap, its a bad totem of things to come.
they will start loosing data, crash and turn eventaly into the equivilent of a chuck it toyComment
