Start -> Control Panel -> Security Center

Look at the left side. Should be a box titled "Resources" with a ? icon to the left. Look at the links, click on "Change the way Security Center alerts me." Untick what you don't want to be reminded about.

Actually there is an easier more efficiant way.

First off, it is the security center icon that comes with SP2 for WindowsXP

          To remove:
Click on the Start Menu and go to Run
Type in "Services.msc" push enter, A new window will pop open.
In the new window scroll down to "Security Center" right click on it and go to properties, Chage the Startup type from the default of Automatic to Disabled, then click on stop to stop the service, push apply then close everything.

Now it's gone and it will forever be gone.

              It is easier.

Start->Control Panel->Administrative Tools->Services is another way to get to the Services control panel if the Run box scares you.

Now it's not running at all.

My way gives the user a deeper customization. You can de-select all of it, or just the ones you don't want it to notify you for.

And btw...not exactly, it still is running with your way, the icon is still there, and it still eating ram and CPU power via one of the svchost.exe Process's. Anywho, Another thing about it is that the security center has no purpose so why not disable it anyway? All of the things it controls can be run independantly if you chose to do so. And if you disable the security center, they will all still continue to do as they had been before, if that be enabled or disabled.

I know, but some people may not want to kill the whole thing.
