Is it just the ego thing, or the general annoyance from those that know to those that don't?
Have any of you ever seen the skit on SNL wher the "tech support guy" who knows everything constantly condescends to the others in the office? You know, if they don't use the exact, correct term or don't follow the exact, proper procedure, then they get to hear that exagerrated, condescension?
It appears, that guy works in THIS office, in fact, in this exact community. You know, it is a real shame.
I am all for etiquette and trying to do the searchers for topics first. Of course that make sense. Granted, the search engine isn't exactly something I would want to use if I were looking to figure my salary or gather information about performing brain surgery, as the returns aren't always great.
People come to these boards to learn. I am neither a newb nor a guru at this point. I tend to fall somewhere in between. However, I have seen some people being REAL a-holes to others. What is the thrill????
I understand f'ing with people now and then, after all , people sometimes deserve it. But, WOW!! I have seen some pretty descent questions just absolutely HAMMERED by some real winners out there. Is that the atmosphere you all want?
I mean, if you want to leave the "public sector" out and talk in binary, I completely understand. That is why we all have email. If you are getting some really insipid questions, like "how do you install a game" I get it. But some of the flaming that has gone on has been REALLY lame.
A little to philosphical, perhaps. However, peole have got to learn somewhere. If you don't want to help them, I understand, but do you really need to sock them in the nuts and then kick sand in their faces?
