Regarding the stats

Could you please stop whining/complaining/asking about the stats server? It'll be back when it's back, and your tears aren't going to speed up the process. Not to mention any names, but Buttercup, seriously, suck it up. I've seen 4 posts in a row from you complaining about stats now, you're a ban waiting to happen.

i think it already happened ... WL of 25... what i'm curious is, is why jade25 (or whatever) got it also.... i looked at his last few posts and couldn't see any reason (other than posting "two weeks"?) oh well...

i'd like to see stats, but it really isn't a big deal, it would just keep reminding me how bad i actually suck it would be nice to know what weapons i suck the worst against thogh

I think Jade23 got banned for this, even though it seems a little excessive. Thank god Buttercup got banned, anybody who takes something as trivial as stats so seriously that they would stop playing is a moron. I'd like to see stats too, but it'll be a cold day in hell before I stop playing just because the stats aren't working. For the amount of crying people here do about stats, you would think that it was actually something that's vital to playing the game.

maybe they had insufficient hardware to run the master server and the stats server at the same time? who knows? who cares?

if thats it, that definately WOULD be excessive... (unless maybe he was on 14?)... i know that subject manner has been gone over multiple times, but it sounds like he didn't know.... closed thread? maybe... ban? :bulb:

I think the guy with the speedhack thread just kind of got caught up in the dragnet by accident. One of those "wrong place, wrong time" kind of things... hopefully they'll reverse it, unless it was an alias.

You say not to complain but really, I can't possibly think of one reason why they shouldn't be able to get the stats up and running. I mean they did the same thing with UT2003, then they actually got 2003 stats working properly, then UT2004 comes out and they don't have them working again and haven't for obviously a long time. I have a feeling that the stats server is going to work nearly the same way as UT2003's why don't they just wipe the stats clean if they have to and make them work. They should already have had the experience by making 2003's work proplery to get them working by now.

Ya they got the stats for 2003 working when everybody left to play 2004. I really can't remember how long the stats for 2003 were down, but I'm pretty sure that it was longer than 2 months, which is just about how long the stats have been down for 2004. Even when the stats were working, they really didn't work correctly. If it's really that vital for people to track their stats, play on servers that keep local stats. They're alot more reliable than the stats Epic keeps.

I think the stated reason -- and I believe it, actually -- that the stats are down is that a lot more people are actually playing UT2k4 than there were for 2k3.

Plus, they've got a lot of irons in the fire what with XBox development and Unreal 3 going on... I doubt the stats are top priority with them ATM.

Whether that's good or bad isn't my decision -- I just call 'em like I see 'em. Personally I give two figs about stats, but then again I suck.
