Frank Sinatra, Ella Fitzgerald, Radiohead, Coldplay, The Pixies, Sonic Youth, Dinosaur Jr. , The Thrills, Lamb, Morcheeba.
Nirvana were, without a doubt, over-rated. Mimicking other bands (see Dinosaur Jr, Sonic Youth, Mudhoney et al) and making it more 'popular' does not a great band make. IMO, at least.

I whole heartly agree with the Misfits coment. For anyone who thinks the MisFits are a bunch of crying goth kids, look up some of their lyrics. Of course, the misfits just aren't the same without Danzig, but they're still fun.
Amen to whoever said Bad Religion, Greg Graffin is just one smart ****er. How many other punk bands, or any other bands for that matter, have a singer who has his PhD and substitute at Harvard?
And this whole trance/trance/eurodance debate is just plain silly.

All of these, and groups like This Morn' Omina and Adeimus . Also, composer Graham Revell.
BTW, Kevin Riepl did the 2k4 music.
In general, I think all "pop" music, while enjoyable, is nothing to get too excited about. Nobody will remember who any of these people are even 5 years from now. Anyone still getting all worked up about the pros and cons of Cindy Lauper? How about Counting Crows, who, as recently as ten years ago had a #1 song for a few months straight? And who remembers them now?
"Godlike" musicians must have a greater impact than that.
