I keep noticing all kinds of things that make me think UT2003 was a "hold-me-over" till UT2004. For example, the website. Through the life of UT2003 the site was never updated and was quite shallow. Once UT2004 was ready to come out, the site got an entire badass revamp and is consistantly updated.
Another example would be the UT2003 manual and packaging. Remember the crappy cd sleeves? mono color manual? The game was buggy as hell, typo's in the menu. An obvious rush job. What was the point? The cheap packaging and menu alone almost seemed to prove that they didnt think the game would be very profitable. (hence, why spend the money on the pretty packaging?)
UT2004, I believe, is what was intended to be released in the first place. Trust me, Im not complaining one bit. Just an observation and not a gripe to anyone involved in making the game. In any type of creation, there are always "hold-me-overs". Take God for instance. Think of how many butts he had to make to get to this degree of perfection.
Point proven. have a great day.
