A couple settings that boost your ownage

I was truly frustrated yesterday; I felt like I really sucked. I was losing on Skilled, and I KNEW I was able to beat Skilled in UT2k3. So I changed some settings, and I was AMAZED at how much more 'in the game' I felt. (Sounds like a ****** ad, I know.)

Here are some settings to change for optimal ownage:

    1. Your field of view should be 100+. It doesn't make your targets any harder to hit, and really boosts your spacial sense.

    2. Turn off mouse smoothing. Having mouse smoothing on really dampens your cursor, and also sucks performance like an overgrown leech.

    3. Use one of the 'Circle' crosshairs for all weapons. (But stay away from Circle 5) These crosshairs have been scientifically proven to be the most accurate; your eye locks onto the outside ring, and then onto the center dot. I recommend Circle 1 or 3.

Sorry if I sound like an overexcited n00b, but I really recommend that you at least try changing the settings.

BTW, what do the 'Pros' use for FOV?

I use fov 100, can't seem to change it any higher. I would like it at 110 or 120. I use Cross 1 as crosshair, largest scale and 100% red. I've also turned of mouse smoothing.

I agree. At least for the LG. With the default one most of the time I was blind (I'm still playing the demo, so I don't know if it's different in the retail...)

I use the dot...best crosshair out there!

and FOV 90 works for me...

and mouse smoothing - a horrible thing!

FOV 90 here. Generally speaking, low fow (80-90) makes it easier to aim at long range, while higher FOV (100-110) improves your close combat skills. Most people use aroubd 90 though.

Mouse smoothing does mess up your aim though, so I agree about that.

I like the dot too, but it tends to get 'lost' when I'm concentrating on other things. The Circle 1&3 crosshairs combine the best of both worlds: precision, and ease of use.
