    How to make a good frag movie?

    Okay, people that have done it before, what's the best way.

    All i currently have is:
    Virtualdub
    Fraps
    UT2003
    Adobe Premiere.

    What are good tools to use, and what exactly do they do.

    First, you need to be good at fragging, unless you're making a good "how I got fragged" movie :haha: :haha:

        Make a demo, then record the demo with fraps. So you don't get slowdown while playing.

          Thats all you really need.
          Fraps 1.9d is what I use(I purchased the 2.0 one and it records like ****)

          oh and use UT2004.

          Virtualdub -- this is used for final compression
          Fraps -- used to record ingame
          UT2003 -- heh
          Adobe Premiere -- used to edit it all together

          Make sure you have lots of HD space(I have used anywhere from 40-100+ gigs of space)

            Well I tried to make good frag movies but the screen was locked to 30 per second.

            and also, I always suck at aiming especially with 100 to 200 ping delays in multiplayer..

            I get mowed down by rocket/flak monkeys and then I said forget it.

              Go into your UT2004.ini
              ie: C:\UT2004Demo\System

              and search for these two lines:
              "NetServerMaxTickRate=20
              LanServerMaxTickRate=35"

              change them to:
              NetServerMaxTickRate=60
              LanServerMaxTickRate=60

              You will get much smoother demos.

                Yeah, I noticed the insane file sizes using Fraps.
                I have fraps 2.0 so.. It kinda drops my framerate hard when playing back a demo and recording it.. Below 25 fps anyway
                Which sorta screws the full motion.

                heh. crappy system
                Athlon XP 1900+
                512Mb Ram
                GeForce Ti4400

                btw, I knew how to do it pretty much (like recording demo's)... was more looking for specific tips.

                Like, do I have to watch thru an entire demo if i know that on 15 mins there's some real decent ownage (15x holy ***** whatever)
                Thx for all help coming tho!

                        If you record in 16bit colour with fraps 2 it is fine.

                        Dr DivX is a good compression program.

                          Does anyone know a simple, FREE video editing program? I don't know how you people afford these $700 programs.

                              Heh. I have a scary feeling most people are just gonna use pirated software on this one...
