    Stained glass windows in CTF-Diffidence

Can someone tell me how the author did that window lighting, and the reflective effects? and why haven't we seen more of this in UT2004, because it's so awesome?

I don't know CTF-Diffidence, but I think it can be done with Shaders and a simple reflective texture or with a CubeMap (check Antalus swamp).
There are not many maps with these nice effects, but you can look up DM-1on1-Idoma, the wall does also have a shiny effect shader, which looks awesome.

I don't know the map either, but I assume he would have used a projector with the stained glass texture pointed to the floor to simulate lighting from the stained glass windows.

The map CTF-Diffidence is from UT2003, uses reflections with transparency or something like couple of shader materials with this:

I believe the stained glass base textures are stock to the game. They are in one of the packages that starts with an A. Like Abbandon, or Alleria. I just saw them the other day hunting for another texture. They're in a place you would not expect them to be.

Not having seen the level, my guess would be a good shader with a nice self illumination and a specular material applied to it, and the reflections are likely projectors. Projectors are used a good deal in the Epic maps, but under used in user created maps. They're kind of wonky and if you EVER do a ctrl+Z with one it'll crash the editor, but they can create some really nice effects.

Those are definitely not stained glass textures from any stock package that I've ever seen. The only real stained glass textures, aside from UT99 ones, are the ones in UCGeneric, and they're quite a bit crappier.

Anyway if you want to see how the map author did those effects with his window all you have to do is open his map in the editor and check out the shader material used to create the effect.

The textures in UCGeneric that you're talking about are the projector textures that would be used in addition to the textures I mentioned (low res used for projection to look more realistic). The actual textures I am talking about do correspond with those, but they loook much better. They're somewhere toward the front of the alphabet in the package names. Like Abbadon textures or some junk like that.

Then I guess it's one of the few hidden textures. Pressing ALL should then show it.
