DVD Player issues

Right, i bought a new case and a dvd player last thursday, and i'm using the new case now. Everything's fine, except the new dvd player :/
I put the cdrom burner and the dvd player on the same cable, because it was just a bit too short to connect the dvd player to the HD cable
the dvd is slave, and i'm guessing that the cdrom is master, but i'm too lazy to open the case now :/
the cdrom and dvd are both not working atm, does anyone have a clue what to do?

Double check Master Slave setting.
Make sure power is connected.
Make sure the IDE Cable is firmly seated.
Make sure BIOS hasnt turned off that controller.
If you still have trouble, just keep trying.

make sure the jumpers on the cd and dvd drive are set correctly to what you have set on the ribbon.

If you're too lazy to open up the pc to make sure that one is set to master and the other to slave, I'm too lazy to give you any other ideas.
