If you know how to edit in UT2k4 then you can edit in AA2 too!

OK! I forgot to tell you that my map is based on AA3 Alley map, and I know some folks that liked more AA2, soo I did them a Xmas present and did a AA2 Alley map, that was in 2009, but now I have posted it in the internet for everone. hope you do like it, at the time I took a month in doing it! and got some great new ideias for UT2k4! it was a very possitive experiance!!!

If you like please give me some feedback on my level, your opinion please!
Do remenber to download AA2 and have fun! I did!!!

What would interest me more is: If this game uses the Unreal engine - which I suppose if it uses an Unreal Editor - can the maps from AA2 be converted to UT24k?

This is a bit late, istn't it? Americas Army 3 was released some years ago.
But I used to play AA2 gladly and it is better than AA3 imho, so if you like "super"-realistic, teambased FPS you would love it.

And yes, it uses the UE2, so the maps (architecture) can be converted to the UT2004 format (AA2 uses *.aao).
But I wonder if it would make sense to do so, AA2's gameplay is MUCH different than UT2004's.

EDIT: I created an AA2 map for a clan a few years ago. But it is rather a map to practise your skills instead of a high-quality looking map.

        Have fun,
        Mutant

I'd love to have more super-realistic, teambased gameplay in UT2k4.

I took a look at America's Army 2 about a week ago and it seems like they removed most of the exporting functionality of the editor. There's probably a way to get content out of that game still, but it probably isn't easy.

Why would you want to? The scale and structure actors are probably entirely different anyway.

I'm not sure what you mean by scale and structure actors.
I find it pretty unlikely that America's Army maps couldn't be converted to UT2004 gameplay, for example, even if a scaling needs to be applied (say, increase the size of the map by 2x, or so).

As for other things, well, it's got some neat things in it like different vehicles, weapons, pawn attachments, textures, models, sound effects, what have you. Plenty of reasons to want to get a look at those things and possibly use them. Especially since the America's Army games are paid for with US tax dollars, it seems like all of this content should actually be provided freely to all US citizens.

I assume that you can port them to UT2004, but the gamestyle wouldn't fit. AA2 is like CS gameplay and full of tactical elements, two teams spawn separated unlike UT04 where you can spawn everywhere. Moreover AA2 doesn't have such a fast movement; you cannot jump that high/far and you walk slower. UT04 maps usually have a fluent gameflow, but AA2 is more tactical and so the maps have e.g. hiding spots, narrow corridors, doors and so on.
So you need, first of all, a new gametype that regulates UT04's gameplay to make the maps more fitting.

So as German am I out?! I don't think that you can say that. The US Army produced the content and so it is kinda copyrighted, isn't it?
But the content is interesting, indeed.

There is the gametype "Ballistic conflict" that does that mostly, also the Ballistic Pawns are slower most of the time. (Especially if carrying heavy weaponry)

I thought that too, but it could be true. We did not pay for it by taxes so we have no right to use it...

Why you don't upload it into indie db / moddb or something ?

Since it uses Unreal Engine why not put it on Moddb, UTzone or maybe Gamefront?
