    UT2004 look proper in widescreen?

I use a monitor that is 1920x1200 [16:10 ratio]. Does UT2004 look proper in widescreen? Specifically...

    - will the image be cut off at the top and bottom?
    - will the interface and loading screen be stretched and look bad?
    - any other widescreen related problems I should be aware of?

If there are these problems, are there any fixes? Or will I have no choice but to run the game at 4:3 ratio? Can anyone post some widescreen screenshots?

I guess my screen is not a 4:3 ratio screen. If you divide yours 1920/1200 it will give you 1,6 (16:10 ratio) for me its the same thing 168/1050 = 1,6.

For me the image doesn't get cut at the top and at the bottom.
The interface has no problems, and neither the loading screens.
      I don't know any.

Circles (like the reticle) may look a bit ovally stretched but that's nothing that would bother me.

The menu background is also stretched, but you won't be looking at it for a very long time anyway.

Otherwise, no. There are no problems with widescreen in any Unreal series games and there have never been any.

I just edited the config file to set the screen resolution to the native 1920×1080 resolution of my LG W2363D.

This screenshot was taken for Wormbo - testing his Betrayal gametype and is not that great as it's been resized to 800px wide, but shows the proportions.

Just try it. It looks fine, I use it myself.

What I did to get my FullHD monitor to work was:
                    setres 1920x1080 (in console)

That might look kinda weird the first few matches, because it's just very huge in comparison with your previous, but you'll get used to it after a couple of matches.

And to actually make use of the widescreen I did:
                    fov 110 (in console)

Those are primarily configured through the INI.

FOV is a very subjective thing. In theory, increasing it will allow you to see more and thus utilise the power of a widescreen monitor. In practise, it makes it harder to see anything, since it sort of zooms out and instead of allowing you to see more, the edges will have ridiculously distorted images if you look at them. Hence I prefer to have FOV even lesser than the default even on widescreen monitors - that minimises the perspective distortion.

Here are a couple of screencaps from my game. Things get a bit stretched as they go to the side of your POV, but I still think it looks pretty sweet.

I personally can't play properly in widescreen; it throws off my aim. Though the fact that it took me a while to realize that this was my problem might be an indication that it looks fine visually. ^^
