I like the original DOM soo much that I was going to learn to make a mod for UT2003 of it. But I personaly didnt really like UT2003 that much so I didnt even go on with it. Yet now after playing UT2004 demo, I really like it and would love to see the original Domination with a ut2004 version of Cinder Foundry (nothing new other then the graphics the map is perfect as it is) It is the all time best compatition map!

And I agree with Damasta on its too hard to defend a CP where they are in a open area. While some people dont like campers, those people dont play DOM too much. Think about it, the whole point in DOM is to hold a CP for as long as possible. Thus DOM = camping. Take the Lift at Gearbolt. The classic showdown. It may be hard to take that cp from just one person guarding it, it is also very hard and takes much skill to hold it all by yourself.

While DOM is not a very popular game, neither is Assult. And in both games, the community of clans who do play them may be small, but much more friendly then ctf or dm. I have watched the UT CTF people playing in pubs (at any givin time) and clans grow smaller over the past two years by atleast 50%. While in the DOM world, only maybe 30% have left. And this is world wide, ClanBase still has active matches going on in its UT DOM Euro league, still has its DOM Cup going, And in the states: PG DOM has a Team, 3v3, and 2v2 ladders in addition to a 3v3 DOM Tournament that completed not too long ago.

So as you can see, we love the mod for what it is, and it doesnt need anything new for it. Just needs to be included in the game, 3rd party mods rarely take off, but ones that are built-in and come with it, do take off. Please Atari, Save Our Domination!!

Shoot me for saying this, but does anyone else here think that ONS is actually a new type of domination? I mean, you are controlling points on the map. And the team that contolls all (or most) generally wins. Technically that pretty much fits the description of DOM: control of the map.

Kind of something interesting to think about. Especially when you realize how well recieved ONS is. (Does that mean everyone was a DOM fan in disguise? )

      Just something to think about.

The eye candy in 2k3 DDom is nice and all, but when it comes to intensity of game play UT Dom is superior.

The maps on DDom are for the most part too large. Players are hard to see and the spawn areas seem like miles away from the CPs.
The larger maps are needed in ddom because of the timefactor and the eyecandy is perfectly combined whit very good gameplay. The battles around the dompoints are much more intens as in ut99.

With a mutator there could be Power Domination. All nodes and cores are unlinked. The team that controls MORE than 50% of the maps power nodes (just by touching them linke in DOM/DDOM) is able to attack the Core.
Like this the Domination team has to send one or two people of to attack the core, so that the other team has a little advantage in taking back the node and break the domination.

I've always liked playing Domination in UT, when DDOM was introduced it had none of the feel, none of the pace that was a hallmark of DOM. It's high time DOM returned to 2K4.

My 2c, now where's my change?

I suppose the really sad thing is, nobody really played either mode at all :/

              Oh well.

Classic DOM please. While DDom was fun and I won't take anything away from it (despite the lame FPS on Ruination at times). I say bring back classic dom or make it available in some way. You don't have to deny people DDom, but allow classic dom anyways. I've talked with many people going "Wow even Gamebox is empty". 2k4 had the power to draw away more people from UT than 2k3 because of the better game engine and other assorted tweaks. With that being true, let's at least get 2k4 pulling away the dom players to their own mod.

And yes, the concept that ONS is a bit like dom I've heard and kind of agree with. However, no dom match ends in 1.5 mins with a noob team against a l33t team. It can in ONS

i played a DOM war yesterday and since I always said DDOM > DOM, i have to correct myself.

                  DDOM = DOM

not really compareable but they are both pure fun!

I always like the original better. I never really got in to the double dom.

With a 6 tele limit? Playing center would suck

I have been playing UT99 DOM since 2002 and it is by far my favorite game. Please bring it back for 2k4.

There was a new Sesmar except they made it CTF and it had no lower area. Was just the ground level and top spots.

Nah the tele shoots much farther now, and recharges faster, so it only sucks for people who telewh0re like no tomorrow.

Personally I was more effective with less frequent translocations anyway. Superfast ones just took longer to get places.

Was it the one Red Dwarf and I worked on or a different one? I never found out if Red finished it but it was hella sweet for UT CTF, considering it needed to be redone for gameplay.

And btw DOM at it's height of players had more real players than DDOM did. DDOM just lasted longer with fewer players. I remember when it first came out it had almost as many players as CTF but CTF was so fricken strong it pretty much stole from all gametypes.
