In classic domination, the maps were too close together to be fun, it was fast and frantic, too much chaos for me to control 3 points, 3 points is good, but its still not popular
this is an unfair poll. I love original Domination and I love Double Domination just as much  It's comparing apples and oranges. There should be at least another option of "Like them both a lot". It shouldn't be like an either-or. They really should have both. They are played much differently from each other. Heck, I'm going to start a thread: ADD BACK IN ORIGINAL DOMINATION!!!
I wasn't sure how to vote here. I assumed Yes means DOM is better than DDOM.
Not that DDOM is a bad gametype, but DOM is much better. I loved having multiple control points, and some maps had more than others. When I first started playing UT, Domination was the first team gametype that I enjoyed, and it took months for me to stop playing that for my eventual favorite, CTF.
Looking at the votes as they are now, it's a fairly even split. I find that rather interesting.
Myself, I believe that Double Domination is the more entertaining gametype, simply because of the better implementation for the scoring system: In the original Domination gametype, say on a map with three points, a team who controlled only one of them would STILL gain a certain amount of points. Given, it wouldn't be as much as a team controlling the other two, but they would still add to their score. This would mean that it would tremendously difficult for a team that was behind to pull ahead. As I recall, it was a tremendously rare occurrance for one team to dominate ALL of the points. This means that at any given time i nthe game, a team's score is growing by some source. This means that once a team forms a substantial lead, the other team would need to hold more points for a longer period of time. However, with a score cap, it's very possible that the team with the lead would "top off" first, even if the other team was playing a spectacular late game.
The bottom line is I believe that in the original Domination game type, the winner would be determined within the first 5-10 minutes of the match.
I didn't vote since I wasn't sure what the question was.
Having played competively for about 3 years on PG DOM - UT99 ladders, I would reeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeealy like to see classic DOM make a comeback in UT2K4. Playing domination without the TL is like driving a car with no wheels.
Take a look at the forums at PG under UT DOM. The post count and community involvement by this mod is rather large. Obviously, this doesn't mean that it was the most popular. It wasn't. CTF was. But what is interesting is that the UT99 DOM ladder currently has 4x the number of teams than the UT2K3 Double Dom ladder. I think Epic would consider ladder interest as important as that is where the competitive player will be found.
If you've ever been in a 250 point match, where both teams were within 10 points of each other from start to finish, you know what I mean. DDOM never had that kind of sustained intensity for me.
You know...not that I'm a big fan of the Translocator limits...but with the 6 charge limit, classic DOM might just be fun. I liked it, but it just got too chaotically crazed. The TL made it total madness (sometimes in a good way, but ultimately, off the deep end).
Don't underestimate DDOM though, you can never have enough LAST SECOND SAVES.
