Friends list in unreal 2004

Both the buddie list and chat are a joke.
The bud list doesnt work half the time, and default installs cant even access the chat server.

The chat server is way more important.

Anyone know if they are going to improve the friends list? I thought the one in 2003 was a bit lacking.
