The day you aquired your UT2004 copy

do you remenber the day you finnally got your hAND ON YOUR OWN COPY OF ut2K4?

it was april 10, 2004 for me
a day before i was with my friends and one of them said ramdomly that UT2k4 was already available in a close store
i went running, dodging, and double jumping of happiness towards the mall, and finnaly saw The Game Box with my very hands and eyes and adored it
I had no money so i had to wait untill the next day.
Iwoke up early on the saturday, got my 110 bucks (yeah yeah) and went to the bus stop to wait for my heavens transportation. I arrived and finnaly the thing was officially MINE!!!.
while in the bus to home i opened the box and contepled the content of the box (manual and cds)
I was about 50 meter away from my home carrying the game in a white plastic bag when i heard someone running toward my direction behind me
The guy came on me and paciently stole my swedish digital watch. Well that sucked but i wasnt really bothered
Finnaly got safe in my apartment, and installed the 6 cds
i was scared it would not work for some reason but the game fired up nicely
And accidentaly press twice in articstronghold

i was playing it at last

that week i was feeling sick so i didnt play much that day

do you have a story too? tell it

      My story is sad.
I was sick when I pre-ordered it. I had strep IIRC. The forums had closed because teh demo was released that day. I remember it because I got it as soon as it was available. Somebody on the forums posted a few days earlier that you could use the rebates and the coupon from some magazine I happened to have to get it for a very cheap price. That didn't work out, but my mom pre-ordered it for me anyway. The whole time waiting for it to be released I was so anxious, I waited. And I waited. And I bounced on every wall waiting impatiently for it to be released. I wanted to play sooooo so badly! I spent all my free time hacking around teh demo. I got Skaarj and Xan MKII as playable ingame characters, reported it here on the forums and people actually found it usefull.

IT'S HERE!!!! I raced home the day it came. 2.5 miles on my bike took 1 and a half minutes. I wanted to open up the box, ever so carefully, and adore the shimmery tin napkin holder it came wrapped in.
I get home, I hop off of my bike, let it crash into the garage door, race into the house, stop and let my eyes adjust from the desert sun to the darkened room, and my jaw drops.
There was the precious box, sitting alone on the coffee table. It was in peices. My dad had opened it!!!!!:cry::cry: I was so heartbroken! He was installing it onto his computer with MY serial number!!!!!! I nearly fell to the floor. I gathered the broken peices of that dream of opening the box for the first time, and waited for him to finish his install and give me back the game disk, still warm from his DVD drive.:cry::cry:
I stalked back to my room with the various pieces of boxing in my hands. He had opened the box so that I couldn't shut it again unless I used tape. It wouldn't stay shut anymore. I installed the game, and played it for a while.

I had told him he could install the game when I got it. I thought he would wait till I had opened it and installed it on my computer, and then he would find a cracked exe from GCW and a keygen like he always does.

The day I got it wasn't that thrilling. I had install error after install error * 30 or so. Very very aggravating. Eventually it worked, and it is definitely worth it, but it was sure a pain at the beginning.

i got mine in february of 2006 cause that's when i finally got a comp with a 3d vid card. played the demo, loved the game withing a few minutes, had to wait a week and a half to get the full version, and now my mom is worried that i spend too much time on it(which i do) and now she thinks i'm gonna become a murderer

I preordered the special edition and was waiting for it show up, but it felt like it was taking forever, so the dark demons within me (some of them live on my shoulders) told me to acquire the game anyway possible, so I did . I played the single player for a while until the game showed up in my mailbox. So I ripped the metal pos off of it which got dented pretty much within 10 minutes and ripped out the cd key and played online.

I played online for a good couple of hours.

I stood outside a game shop until I saw some kid buying it. I waited until he got out of the crowded city and onto a quiet street. Then, I attacked him from behind and stole it.

              Good times.

I just remember that I was in the UK (Belfast) and that p0rny^ (who's not been here for over a year ) ordered two copies of the Special Edition and sent one to me because I couldn't order it myself.

I had the SE preordered (from Bol.com IIRC) and it came in like a week late. :bored:
Was pretty annoying, people all over Quakenet were already playing it while I was still stuck with UT2k3 and the 2k4 demo.
The day it came was nothing special; the SE box was very unimpressive but in good shape, the game installed smoothly from the DVD it was on. Nothing like the day I got UT2k3, where I couldn't get the **** CDs out of the box, and was afraid I'd break them if I pulled too hard. (they did bend quite a bit before they got loose)

I preordered the special edition, only to find out that they would ship the game a week later. I didn't want to wait, so I cancelled the preorder and bought the regular version in the local toy store. But, exactly on that day.. my harddrive crashed and I had to wait MORE THAN A WEEK before it got fixed, so I could've just had the special edition which was actually cheaper than the regular version for me..

I think that one's still in the box over here. :bored:
The tiny thing didn't even fit on my skull. I prefer using seperate headphones and a mic anyway.
