UT doesn't have to be realistic, but it does need to look at least somewhat believable, and some basic logic really helps to that purpose. For example, it doesn't make much sense how a character's hands and feet are clad in 20cm thick metal armour while his chest is almost completely exposed. It would make much more sense if his chest is completely covered in (lightweight) armour and his limbs are protected by pads. UT nailed this pretty well, as did the new models in UT2k4 (Thundercrash, the Hellions and the Skaarj are very well done), but the UT2k3 models IMO looked rather silly.
