New Hardware Induces FPS Woes.

I have a 128MB Rad9800Pro, and I didn't see any FPS change with full AF, but it went doooown with the lowest possible AA (now I've got full AF and no AA and runs good for my tastes). :/

Otherwise I run on 1024x768 and Holy Sh*t settings...

benchmarks state a more or less 80% boost in frame rates.. and they arent joking, just remember to remove your drivers beforehand

I personally dont give a rip for PNY- but thats the best NEW 6600GT deal out there.
I personally would pay $20-30 more for a 3yr* warranty and dual dvi myself...

Don't knock OEM - heck OEM wd 8mb cache hard drives have 3yr warranty while the retail only have 1yr.,
-the real issue is that thing is a refurb with only 15day warranty-refurb is the problem..
and that is too bad he invested in an AGP mobo in an effort to reuse his old 9600... but since he just got a new mobo and cpu I dont think hell be going PCI-e anythime soon ...
is too bad manufacturers didnt make some way for boards to have both AGP and PCI-E slots. probably because noobs would try to use both at same time for "1337 spEEd!!1"

FYI- Newegg lists ALL their REFURBISHED items as OEM, even if they are retail, just in case the manual or a cable is missing, or box is damaged- that way they cant be held liable.

I bought my brother a 6600GT for his machine which is similiar to yours but not quite as good and it runs UT2004 maxed out with ease. . . deffinately the best value for money card out there only wish i could afford to get myself one

Virax, what resolution, number of bots, and mutators? With 0 bots, 1024x768x16, the settings you posted (except Reduce Mouselag off), UTComp 1.6 (or 1.6a or something), No Adrenaline, I was getting 65-250FPS, with an average of around 85. A64 Winchester S939 3000+ (@2.2GHz), ATI R9600 Pro (at AGP4x, no less!), 1GB DDR400 CAS2.5 RAM.

16bit color? LOL! I am sure he's running 32bit color like most everyone else does.
I didn't think anyone ran games at 16bit color anymore.
And your 9600 pro is definitley faster than his plain 9600. - over 40% faster as seen here:

-and AGP4x vs AGP8x is nominal to +/- 2fps. Thats assuming his 8x card is even actually running in 8x mode...

ps- he STILL hasn't even told us what video resolution he's playing in. For all we know hes trying to do 1280x1024 or higher

I was at 1152x864x32, and also using UTComp 1.6a and 0 bots. Not like UTComp affects framerates, though.

peterbi: As it turns out, I get the same framerates at 1024x768x32 as I do on 1024x768x16, so the former it is.

Virax: Ah. At 1152x864x32 I get about 40-320 FPS (looked at a different wall this time ), and that extra few FPS is probably owing to the extra 200MHz on my CPU.
