    Certain levels lagging

    certain levels in UT2004 lag. i have all the latest drivers and the Pc is brand new (bought it 6 months ago). its quad core and has a 512 8800GTS Geforce graphics card. clearly my specs are way enough for the game so why is it lagging? any way to fix it?

    Spec's may be too much :P UT99 felt like it lagged with dual core for me, setting it to 1 cpu fixed that some times, try setting your cpu's to using only 2?

      What are the 'certain levels'? For me, ONS-Dawn tends to lower the framerate to 25, but other than that it works good on both Windows XP x64 and OpenSUSE 11.1. Also, your log might give us some information.

        how do u cahnge the cpu settings? also this isnt the first game to do this. Ureal 2 lags major even the intro movie. Unreal Tournament also lags, all levels.

        certain levels are bombing run: - Bifrost, Disclosure.
        CTF: - Absolute Zero, Citadel, Facing World's 3.
        some of these levels u cant swap for another arena which makes it even more annoying. if it helps i have xp -32bit. wat sort of log u want? (im a bit of a newb)

          load your game
          Alt-Control-Delete
          Applications Tab - Right Click your Game in the list
          Select - Go to Processes (This just changes to next tab but it highlights that games one.)
          Your Game file should be highlighted, (for ut2004, its simply UT2004.exre)
          Right Click your game - Set Affinity
          Should now see new window, quad core should show 4 tick able boxes, un-tick 2.
          Hit "Ok", go back to your game

          2 things - 1 this might not work, like i said with UT i had to run 1 CPU on dual, but it didn't work every time, sometimes i had to keep reloading and now n then it worked and would work perfect. 2 - you will have to do this every time you load ut, unless you download and install a program that does it for you. (sometimes if you run it in compatibility mode by right clicking the short cut and changing its properties it works)

          This doesn't work with every one.. iv know people who's computers this doesn't work on... worth a try :d

            Interesting, all those levels mentioned seem to be from UT2003. Might be a problem with the conversion commandlet... And yes, try the affinity trick, that might work. And the log is in your Game/System/Game.log (for example, UT2004 would be UT2004/System/UT2004.log).

              AbsoluteZero and Citadel are from ut2004...

                Citadel is from UT2003! And yes, AbsoluteZero is the only one from UT2004, but it might as well be an exception.
                Other than that, you might try adding CPUSPEED=YourCPUSpeedInMHz into your shortcut and also run it in compatibility mode.

                        The log is clean, so there's nothing wrong with your mods or mutators... Tried the shortcut trick?

                            Right-click on your shortcut to UT2004.exe, and in the Target field after the closing " mark enter -cpuspeed= and your processor speed in MHz. Not sure if it helps anyway, but worth a try.
