    fed up

quite a while ago i started having trouble with my UT2004 in Instant Action's.

    basically, radomlly, the game skips.

by skip i mean that when i move around it stops repeatedly, ill move right and itll freeze then 3 seconds later ill just be facing the spot i was moving to look at.

then ill press and hold "w" and itll go, freeze, ill suddenly be a few feet ahead, after it freezes ill let go of "w" but then itll unfreeze and go forwaord again.

its really a pain and im fed up with it

    how do i fix?

update all drivers. get latest patch. if that dosn't work, reisntall the game. if that dosnt work, reformat, and if that fails, I guess your up s**ts creek without a paddle.

Does it happen in multiplayer as well, or just single?

Try defragging your hd see what happens then...

Maybe you have some bad sectors on your hd???

              have you Overclocked your CPU?

UT04 is a CPU reliant game, it could be CPU lag due to OCing.

                    okay:

                    ATI9200
                    512RAM
                    120 gig HDD

                    2) no it only happens in instant action, but gets anoying when trying to look at new maps

                    im runnin patch 3355

o and i don't even know how to overclock so i guess thast a no.

and I check Spyware yesterday and it happened today when going over an ONS map

I would provide a demo but it doesn't hicup when i am recording with fraps.

Are any heavy programs running in the background? I get insane hitching when my scheduled virus scan starts.

I agree with Magwa, it's your video card.

Even though the 9200 is a 128 MB card, it is not capable of running UT2004 with all the eye candy set at max.

Check the Display tab in the Settings menu:
Set your resolution to 800X 600, and your colors to 16 bit.

You may be able to use the 32 bit color settings by reducing the detail levels on the right side of the display settings page; Texture, Character, Decal Stay, Character Shadows and Fog Distance.

I managed to strain my 9700 pro card by running 1024 X 768 @ 32 bit with full eye candy, no stuttering but artifacts and shading problems in AS Mothership.

Upgraded to X800 pro and

A $500.00 video card isn't required to run UT (but it sure helps), Radeon 9600 pro and above should do ok. 9800 pro can be found on Tiger Direct for $145.00.

You can check and compare ATI's video card specs here:
                            http://apps.ati.com/ATIcompare/

                            Hope that helps.

same thing happens to me. I doubt its the video card... its probably some internal problem then. it only seems to happen offline.... in instant action... oh well its all good I suppose...
