Problems Hosting Own Server HELP APPRECIATED

Okay, I went into my router and assigend port 7777 for UT2004.
My friend still can't enter into the game i host and gets that black screen for an indefinite amount of time.

WHY ISNT IT WORKINg?! Do i need to assign more ports? Do I need to do something different? How can I arrange my router so that I can host games for other people without this difficulty?!

Any help is appreciated. I tried searching these forums and I couldn't find any helpful solution.

There are several ports you need to open.

hi there,
as well as your router, do you have a software firewall as well ? at the moment winxp firewall isnt very configurable (disable it as your router hardware firewall is more than capable), but with firewalls from trend and symantec, you should be able to do it easily. apart from those suggestions i cant think of much else... oh, i take it you set up port forwarding within the NAT options within your router?

yes, i set up the port forwarding with the Nat options...I believe I haev a firewall set up with McAfee...other than that i'm not sure. I don't think i have any other firewalls

There is a bug in the game that causes it to report the wrong port to the master server with certain routers so try this:

Try to have your friends manually type in your IP and port in the server browser (right click -> open IP). Make sure they include the port (:7777)

if they can connect, have them type ESC while in game then click "add to favorites".
