Advice needed on dedicated server hardware

Hi there, I'm hosting a LAN party for some folks in a few weeks. I'd like to install the free full server , but I'm not sure what machine would be the better one to use. I've got 2 options:
    1) Duron 800 on Asus A7V133 with 512MB SDRAM 133Mhz, running WinXP Pro
    2) Athlon 950 on AMD 750 mobo with 256MB SDRAM 100Mhz, running W2K pro

I was hoping for a 10 to 12 player setup for mainly ONS. Any sound advice is very welcome.

Best bet is always go with the fast hardware. A server doesn't need a decent video card, but it does require a fast processor and the more ram the better.

Can't you take the 512 and add it to the athlon? 256 is not gonna give you any performance at all.

For a 10-12 ONS serverm you need at least 512, ONS is a freaking memory hog. With either, I'd say 6-8, 8-10 would be lagging.

Well, the AMD 750 board can't handle 133 Mhz RAM, so that would be a waste. Tnx for your reply though.

You can use pc133 in a pc100 motherboard! You can go backwards with it. I'm using pc100 with 2 other pc133 in my server right now till i get my new stuff in. Works great!
