    Lighting Problems

Now I don't understand when I am designing in Unreal Ed 3.0 why when I add a light it looks great. But when I click on Build Lighting the entire room goes black. Even if I increase the intensity. I have no idea what is going on. Please help me understand. I can't even get throught the tutorials because I can't get the lighting to work so I can see what the heck I'm doing. :sulk:

Make sure you put plenty of lights all over. You may be doing this allready. All I know is when I work on levels I have to fill the level with lights all over otherwise you get a lot of dark areas where the light can't reach.

Sounds like each of your light radius' are too small.

Right-click on your light, a menu should appear. Now click Light Properties at the top of this menu. This will open up the Light Properties menu.

Now click Lighting from the menu, and a drop-down list should appear under Lighting. You should see LightRadius towards the bottom of this list, left-click it. Now type in a larger radius value, try 100 (depends how large your room/whatever is though).

Adjust the radius of each light in turn (or you could select them all and adjust the radius once for the lot, which saves time). Do a Rebuild All and you should see that your room (or whatever) is more brightly lit now.

You might want to have a look at some lighting tutorials, theres plenty available on the net.
