Bad DVD media?

I installed the DVD edition, but now when I try to play the game itself I am told to use the original disc instead of a backup. I AM using the original disc, I entered my key code correctly, and I have tested other DVDs in the drive.

Any ideas?

Get the latest UT2004 patch, it removes the CD check completely and you don´t need a CD\DVD in the drive to play.

This is the windows patch. If you use Linux or a Mac post again.
