    What is

What is 2x AA, 8x AF, ? Ive hear this many time and not quiet sure of the meaning and or what it does ? I also know you can turn these down/off and was also wondering how you would go about doing that so I could see the differance for myself.

2x Anti-Aliasing - reduces the effect of jagged lines when looking at the edge of an object, by blending some of the pixels with the background. Good for making really nice screenshots, not so great in game play.

8x Anisotropic Filtering. Improves the appearance of surfaces as they diminish from sight, most obviously on walls, ceilings and floors, although it applies to all textured surfaces.

You can alter the values in steps, 2x, 4x, 8x and 16x. Each gives an improvement in appearance offset by degradation in performance.
