Dedicated Server....

What is the "Dedicated Server"? ...all it says it is is that server admins will be able to run their own Dedicated Server...it doesn't say what it is.....

....is it worth downloading? what will i be able to do if i have it that i wouldn't be able to do before?

A dedicated server is a computer that hosts a server for ut but you cannot play on it from the same computer. So you put up a computer to host and do nothing else.

If you have a spare machine and want to let it run as a server you should get the dedicated server. It´s only 2 GB big instead of the 5,5 GB for the game. I have the dedicated server on my computer installed so I can test and create configs which I can use on my rented server.

Will the dedicated server be able to give good ping via a typical home dsl or do you need a rented computer on some high bandwidth backbone?

Uhh... I'm gonna host a TDM-server with ADSL (max 8 players and 1 map)... I just installed another copy of UT2004 to my PC...Go check the thread "Is my computer good enough?" at the Administration forums... There I got some info packed up... *thanks Lakie*
