    What is ping?

Excuse my ignorance, but can someone explain ping? Thank you!

the time it takes the information to get from your computer to the server, and back

so basically its a direct measurement of net delay or lag

the higher it is, the more you have to lead your shots

<50-60 is very good, 30'ish and below is lan quality, so your shots will be pretty accurate

And just so you know, PING is actually an acronysym.

        It stands for

        INternet
        Groper

(And no I am not kidding, you are groping the Internet).

It also depends on how you hook to the internet. The faster your connection the better.

another thing thats good to know is packet loss too.. A server can have good ping, but if it constantly drops packets, you'll get that jerky/warping effect..

a good reason to use a switch or router instead of a hub in LAN games
