    Manta as a HWP

What I've noticed is that a lot of people are commentning only on the transport capabilities of a manta. A manta that is well-piloted and has say, two well armed people on the wings, possibly one on the nose, is a very powerful fighting machine. If the wing-gunners have minigun and/or flak cannon, then it makes a good anti-personnel weapon. If the gunners have, say, AVRiLs, then especially if you have three, you have a huge anti-vehicle platform. The speed and manuverability of a manta with the power of AVRiLs and Rocket Launchers? It's powerful. 'course, it dies easily, but it's still really strong.

Since we are on the topic of vehicle/man combos, you can also use the scorpion in this manner. I was on top of the scorpion and the driver and I were attacking a node. I whipped out the grenade launcher and plastered the node with nades when he released a full charged ribbon. The damage was huge so we just kept that combo running for as long as we could on nodes and enemy vehicles.

for nodes, I find short ribbons are more effective

i dun need people on my manta for it to be effective. people lose their heads a lot when i use it. Can't be bothered with people on my wing and warning my unsuspecting victem .

i agree to some extent. its really hard for anyone on a wing of a manta to aim at anything when the craft is going full speed, and rocking some tight manuvers. but if the manta slows down to compensate, its a sitting duck for avrils. i general, i tend to jump on manta wings more for transportation than anything else.

If you don't have any immediate concerns to get to I find it convenient to get ontop of the goliath with the AVRIL and watch for the raptors or just load up anything else up and take out the pesky ground forces while the gunner and howitzer take out everything else.

I sometimes find that I fall off the back of the manta when firing the AVRIL because of the kick it has!
But I agree, that mounting up should only really be used for transportation - you don't want a lucky/good shot to take 3 of you out when you're attacking a critical node...

Okay, Granted, it is rather hard to aim on a manta, but the point of loading up is to both provide suppression fire and to allow for a HWP. When the manta is going full speed, the gunners can scare people by firing rockets and the like, sometimes they may get lucky. When the manta is safe to stop, then you have the heavy firepower, but they can retreat easily. It is a specific style of combat.

Duck, then you can't fall off

It happens to me even when I'm ducking, but it helps to launch the missile while facing away from the cockpit, so the kick stops to the cockpit...

Have you tried firing the AVRIL while facing the cockpit ? This will make falling off much more fun.

BTW while flying around with 2 female characters, enemies in sight should have their view wander off in your general direction .
