    Advanced Dodging Theory

Okay, I'm not a complete n00b. But while I know how to dodge and lunge, I have no clue how to wall-dodge. I've head that you can jump off of walls, but I have no clue how.

BTW, when I watch the botmatch-benchmarks, I sometimes see bots jump, do backflips, etc. It's crazy ****, but I have no clue how to do it.

Can anyone provide me with all the possible movements you can make in UT2003?

    Thanks

    Hey man,

Wall jump is basically jump then dodge in the direction opposite the wall. ie. wall is to the left of you...so you jump and dodge right. This will cause your character to do a wall jump animation which maybe what you are see'ing with the bots.

Next there is boost jumping. Boost jumping is a modified wall jump - actually a bug in UT2003. To execute a boost jump using the above example, you dodge right but before the second tap to the right you hit jump. Use boosting whenever possible as you don't loose momentum.

Both of these jumps can be performed while moving forward or backward. Hell, even moving right or left as long as you are boosting in the opposite direction.

I have trouble explaining this to people, if you need better explanation, just ask.

Theres a good video out there that shows you how to do all this. Axamander (not sure on spelling) made it, its called something like "Jump like a mental patient." I searched the forums looking for it, but I can't find it. Maybe someone else knows the link to it.

I'm almost positive Remus and his bro do backflips...that must be it.

Isn't it just the various different model animations for jumping?

That's what I said. It looks really cool with Romulus, when you have slomo: when you walldodge, it looks like the matrix.

That will be my substitute for Max Payne 2 until it comes out for the Mac.

I made a little demo about the different jumps in UT2k3. You can find it on the bottom of the page from the link above. All info is there.

Otherwise if you live somewhere in europe i can show you on a server and explain how you must perform those jumps

This is a bit Off-Topic, but has anyone noticed that you dont need to be near a wall when boost-dodgin'. Just dodge and jump right after that...

Boostdodging is an advanced topic. You can do crazy jumps with it, but it's kind of hard to pull off. Bots never do it, that's for sure.
Seeing as this topic is called "advanced jumping", a small explanation of boostdodging would be in place:
Generally, when you jump and do a walldodge a fraction of a second later, you do both moves at once, making a bigger jump. You can then still jump again in mid-air for an even larger height/distance.
In order to do it right, you need to do the first tap for the walldodge before jumping. (note: I never pulled it off with just the keyboard. It's easiest to do if you jump with a mousebutton)
