    Adrenaline and other questions...

    As a long-time user of the original UT, I do have a few questions about the new 2003 version:

    What is Adrenaline, and how do I use it?
    I have noticed that when you gett 100 points of adrenaline, the announcer says "ADRENALINE", but I never have been able to find a way to 'use' it. I just stay at 100. Does it increase your accuracy, or jump higher or anything? or is it just something that is "neat"?

    Sheild gun?
    Why do I have a sheild gun? Does anyone use it? When I'm blocking with a sheild, I can't attack... even tho I have a scroll mouse, I can't sheild, switch, fire, back to sheild... fast enough to make it worth using. And it's painfully weak; it runs out of power with one or two shots.

    Video card/system problems?
    How are these people so darn good at killing me? Is there something I'm missing? lol. Maybe they have $500 video cards, lightening-fast reflexes, and NOTHING else to do but play UT2003... but I seem to get CREAMED on some servers when I log into online games. Any suggestions for increasing my skills? (besides quitting my job and staying home to play UT2003 all day =)

    Thanks,

    I'm at work, so here's some quick answers:

    1. Adreniline is used once you reach 100 to get special stuff... like this:

    F=forward
    B=back
    L=Left
    R=right

    LLLL=pint-size
    RRRR=Camo
    BBBB=Booster (health/shield)
    FFFF=Speed
    RRLL=Invisible
    FFBB=Berserk

    It runs out as you use it...so you either have to kill other players to continue, or find more.

    2. A really great guide to the game, weapons and all can be found here:

    http://www.gamespot.com/gamespot/gameguides/pc/ut2003/

    3. Practise! Some of these peep have been playing for almost a year, others are natural talents... although a great gaming system helps, a talented player can beat you on just about anything!

    Find a new player server and learn at your own pace!

    Good luck!

            We do have a rather large selection of maps...almost 400 total!

            BUT...the re-direct server is really fast, and once you download the map, you'll never have to download it again (long as you convert your cache).

            My suggestion:

            Go here:

            http://www.unrealtournament.com/ut2003/downloads.php

            Get the latest patch(2225),
            If you haven't downloaded the Bonus Packs as well, i'd suggest you do...will save you TONS of time when you connect to online servers.

                Make sure you get the Digital Extreme's bonus pack as well...and it can't hurt to get the CBP (Community bONUS pACK) too, as most servers loaded all these maps.

                As for converting your cache...from a previous post...!

                Make downloaded maps and files yours forever!

                Old program, but works like a charm! Cache Raper for UT99 & UT2003

                Whenever you play a custom level game from the internet, UT2003 caches it into a temporary directory.

                This program will take the map out of cache and enables you to play it from your map list.

                It also stops UT from deleting the file from your cache folder by permanently placing it on your hard drive.

                And thanks CTCR-TheCatcher for the helpfull program, it was kind of tedious doing it manually. "

                http://www.catchersctf.com/CatchersC...ay=UTILS_CUTCR

                You GOT to love the "auto-select" feature... two button clicks (Auto-select, then extract) and your done with everything in your cache in it's correct folder!

                      Hey Jupiter.... come to the .:vVv:. servers (link for the site is in Fluffy's sig)! They are the best that I have found and I don't play other servers anymore. Since I have been playing on them, I have seen a big improvement in my skills... until one of the .:vVv:. members (Fluffy, FlameGirl, Nikki, Shamoo, Lazarus, and many more) shows up and makes me feel like a nOOb again!!
                      Seriously though, they are a great group and are a lot of fun....

                          The shield gun is not really a weapon where you stand and deflect bullets then snipe. You play UT, then remember the impact hammer? It's just like that, with a new feature of deflecting shots.
