    Im a Real NOOB everyone!

Ok i suck at deathmatch, ctf,br,domination but i do good in onslaught?!? this makes no sense. i play deathmatch quite a bit and the highest place i got was second to last wit 12 people! I cant seem to get dodgeing down and i cant dodge on command sometimes. I press right or left twice, sometimes 4 times but no dodge! any way around this.:sulk:

Remember when i said i do good in ONS? well i do. On one of the official servers hosted by Epic/Atari i was the top scoring player for 5 MATCHES! what is wrong with me!?

Also I get really bad lag and im playing on a 3ghz cable connection and my ping is like 28-34!! This seems low because in quake 4 the servers had a ping of 78 and still ran very well, why?

c`mon I know this isnt really somthing theres an answer to but could somone possibly know how to make dodging any easier?:sour:

Dodging... have you tried adjusting the dodge time in the controls (Settings\Input). That might help you out. But the double tap of the direction key(s) has to be pretty fast to dodge (depending on the time you set it at of course).

      As for your other questions/concerns:

For ONS, scoring is the same as your other games types as far as fragging opponents, but you can also score many points by building and destroying nodes and cores. I don't know the exact point system, but if you are building nodes, destroying nodes and damaging the enemy core, you can get quite a few points in no time.

the lag issue could be the server... hard to tell. If you are playing on an ONS server with alot of people, it can get laggy (net wise). It can also feel laggy if you have low frames per second (fps). Again, this can be affected by a large number of people on an ONS server. I'm trying to remember the fps command in the console, I think it's "stat fps" without quotes (I have mine bound to a key in the user.ini, so it's been a while hehe). If you are getting low fps, try lowering settings. That's about all I can tell you. Depending on the ONS map, and how many players there are, I can drop to 25-30fps on the lowest possible settings on my comp (3700+, 2G ram, x800xl video card).

Hope that helps! And whatever you do, don't give up. Just keep practicing and you'll get better in no time. You have to remember, the guys playing DM, CTF, TDM, BR have been playing for years (Since 1999 if they have been playing since the first Unreal Tournament). So they have some experience under their belt. Don't feel bad if you get your *** handed to ya for a few weeks/months. But if you keep playing, and asking questions (here or on the server) you'll improve in no time.

        Good. Wanna play?

just kidding, sadly I have connection problems. Else we could easily meet on a puplic server... You'd probably pawn me anyway.

I think playing 1on1 and ffa is the fastest way of learning, and the biggest part of the game. Learn the movement (dodges, dodgejumps, walldodgejumps, small shieldjumps) and how to use the weapons (depending on area and opponent/opponent's health).

          ONS scoring
          fragging ppl-1point
building node by standing in a free node but never charge-2 points
          building and charging nodes completely-4points
destroying nodes-0 points (i think...i nv got a point for destroying)
destroying enemy nodes under construction-0 too
destroying core- more than 5 points (most probably)

Both ONS and Deathmatch are quite different games although ONS does include killing it's not quite the same.
As already mentioned, ONS is about building and destroying nodes and cores.
Deathmatch is about killing but also about movement, anticipation, weapon switching, AMP and Shield timing and pickups.

If your around europe or don't mind a big ping then feel free to contact me and we can arrange some basic DM training for you.
Contact me via PM or at FF site, it's a noob friendly site so don't worry about flames or anything.

Alright Thanks!! I got the dodge timing comfortabel for me. Now i Know the onslaught score thing, i do assist lots of nodes with the link gun and am ussually attacking powercore with a manta. I already knew the framerate thing because i check it constantly, its usually about 55-67. The computer i play online with is not mine, its my dads company computer and its an alienware that lists for about $2300. It has=

                Intel Xeon 3.6ghz Proc(dual-core)
                Unknown motherboard
                2gig ddr2 ram
                660watt psu
                geforce 6800gt(BFG Tech) 256mb gddr3
and finally a hitachi deskstar 80gb sata hard drive

(not trying to **** anyone off)
