irc problem

hey everyone i hav a problem when trying to get into irc. when ever i try to join a channel ie irc.enterthegame.com #ut it loads up the channel but for some reason i cant see the public convo but people can send me private messages :S. when the channel usually comes up the top next to system its not there, pls help as i need irc to get into some pugs.

what is a client? all im using is the ut2004 chat thing?

just a thought, you can also use gaim or trillian both of which are instant messaging app's that also support IRC.

that way you can have your MSN, AOL, yahoo and IRC in one application only running and save some resources
