I would like to start my own server so I can play UT2004 with a certain mod that I downloaded and I like a lot.

You would need to contact a hosting company about renting a server.
Google "Gaming Server Rentals"
Should put you where you want to be. -
if its just for fun you could just host it on your own computer - if it has high enough specs

Don't host on the same computer you play on -- the server eats up all the CPU and RAM. Instead, do what I do. Get a low end (2ghz p4, 1gb pc2100, 40gb hd, etc...) PC and a router, and spilt the connection between the computers. Then, use the low end PC to function as a dedicated server, and the other to play on. You will need at least a 512kbps (60KB/s) upload speed to host a decent server however.Comment
