    *.upk troubles

Hello, I'm new and I've joined these forums to explore a problem:

How do I pack content to a .upk file.

This isn't what you might think it is, I've extracted content from a .upk file, and want to not repack those files back into the .upk file that they came from, but instead put them into a unique .upk file, that is, pack them into a package like you would with content in the UDK's content browser.

Is there any way to do this? Or is it the same scenario as with repacking a .upk file, impossible out side the UDK? (not really, someone's figured it out)

The only way to create a new UPK is in the content browser.

As I noted above, the Content Browser is no longer the sole program capable of creating (rather modifying) Unreal Package files (There is a modded Gildor tool that can repack an unpacked .upk), and, since I'm going to spend the time expanding the tool's capabilities, I'm also going to make it so that it's capable of authoring new .upk files so that others with my problem will have an easier way.

SIDENOTE: Why are there so few people willing to tackle Unreal Package files? Even Gildor, despite his excellent footholds into the .upk framework, is unwilling to expand his tools. I understand that .upk's are convoluted and their format complexity and style changes as fast as the UDK, but why so few if the clues are already there?
