    PhysX Fracture Maps

For those of you that use PhysX is their any kind of pack that contains multiple fracture maps(broken bricks, shattered glass, ect)? By default we have to create our own image by hand in a program like photoshop and use that. I would think there would be a collection somewhere but maybe I'm wrong in thinking that.

PhysXLab uses images like the one below to create its fracture maps.

Why is nothing easy in regards to UDK? lol. I went ahead and tried to make a few fracture maps from images online so I could stockpile enough to give out but something wacky happened.

      Example below:

I then saturated the image, adjusted the threshold, and the size to 323x347(Physx seems to be picky on my PC, it locks up and never fractures with the original image size) and got the following.

After slicing the default wall mesh that comes with Physx The following issue happens.
      Before:

      During:

      After:

In test mode the mesh explodes but still has the whole mesh visable as seen above. Anybody have a clue as to why?

***ISSUE RESOLVED*** Using the 1.2 build fixed it but also eliminating any non pure white or black will do the trick

I'll try 1.1 later today when I get home to see if that makes a difference. Thanks for the idea.

I got home earlier and realized I'm actually using 1.1.101. Just used the 1.2 build and its all sorted now, runs a lot smoother too. What issues were you having with it?

these are my settings. I am using APEX 1.2.1 PhysX 3.2.1 PhysX Lab(64bit)
I simply loaded your fracture map and hit fracture. I did not change any "Fit to Object" settings.
                also.. GREAT WORK!

Here are some of my fracture map samples that I drew in Adobe Photoshop.

They are Low Fidelity so you can build hundreds of walls without any lag.

thanks for sharing, still bug hunting at this end, think its more a problem with physxlab than my simple meshes

Thanks for trying to get those tutorials up I appreciate it. I've been messing with physx constantly since I downloaded it. If you post a link to the fracture map your using I might be able to figure out why its not working.

Thanks for sharing! I managed to get a few more maps to work so I'll post a link later today.

its not the maps that are causing the problems its the voronoi fracturing thats the problem, if i set to more than 13 chunks it doesn't work in playground or in game

Oh, well that is really weird. Is that with any mesh including the default ones? I'm able to do 1000 chunks with the default wall. I had an issue with a custom mesh in that mode.

Just uploaded a few fracture maps I made here.
                            http://s1199.beta.photobucket.com/us...racture%20Maps

I'm starting to get the hang of it so I'm open to map ideas. Anything that can't easily be created by the other modes preferably.

vERY EXCELLENT work!Hrm I will attempt to design a few. maybe low, medium and high fidelities.

                              (updated)
                              here some fine fracture maps

its like a more refined version of the default brick bmp that comes with apex lab

the crystalize one fractures really nice!
